apps and SD card support

So I'm planning to connect a flash drive or SD card/device (maybe something like this: https://shopmeenova.appspot.com/st/p/m3r.html ) to my Nexus 7. I already understand that whatever device I get may require an OTG cable and the Nexus Media Importer app. What I'm wondering about is installing apps. Since the Nexus 7 doesn't have native SD card support, how would I install an app to an SD card rather than the Nexus? Would existing apps like App2SD work? Advice appreciated.....

Without going into a long complicated history of why those kinds of apps were necessary, just know that you can't move your app data to your SD card with the stock ROM. Available space for apps used to be a lot smaller, but now you can use the full 16/32 GB for whatever you want so that isn't needed.

You can use an OTG cable for an SD card for your media files (pics, videos, etc) but they can't be used for app storage.

I pre-ordered a couple of those Meenova devices, also. (still waiting for them to ship) However, it's my understanding that it doesn't require a separate OTG cable, because the card reader *IS* an OTG device.

Thanks Diknak....So if I understand correctly my additional storage (ANY additional storage devices) will be media only....I won't be able to move apps to it. And apps like App2SD will be useless. Is that correct?

Thanks vmurph.....That's my understanding too, for that specific device. For other devices (flash drives, keyboards, etc.) I'll need the OTG cable, and since they're cheap it makes sense for me to get one.

That's correct.
