Yesterday I installed Advanced Task Killer (Free version) of the market to give it a try to see if it would help me save some battery, it has so far from what i've seen. I close out apps like Sprint Navigation, Fring, Voicemail, Amazon MP3 Store and 1 or 2 more apps but then about an hour or two later those apps are back on and running. Does anyone know why and how to shut them down completely?

I don't care what anyone says that ATK is a garbage task killer. Set it to close your apps when screen is off and that should fix your problem. I say dump ATK and get Taskiller. It frees up way more memory then ATK and you also get some nice widgets.

All task killers can do funny things to your phone. Honestly, Android is pretty good at managing running apps and with the power of current phones you shouldn't need it. Only if you are having issues with battery life should you bother using ATK or similar apps.
