Apps from used gTablet

I bought a used gTablet on Craig's List ($275, with carbon fiber skin, screen protector, two AC adapters, and dock---pretty good deal, I think!), which I'll pick up this week. That person is running the latest VEGAn custom ROM, but I will probably want to try out some of the other ROMs out there as well before deciding which I'll use.

If there are any apps on the tablet that the previous owner purchased from Android Market, can I simply back them up and put them back on the tablet after installing a new custom ROM or won't that work because the tablet will be registered to someone else at that point (me rather than the previous owner)? (I apologize for this question, but I'm new to the Android world, so I don't quite know how the apps market works.)

Also, is there anything I should ask the previous owner to do before handing over the gTablet to me? He said he would wipe the apps and user cache, but I'm wondering if there's anything else he should do.

Thanks!
Ron

Apps are mainly tied to the Google account, not the device. There are ways to backup and keep the apps the original owner purchased, but that is essentially piracy since he purchased them on his account. I would suggest you do a clean wipe of the device and try out different ROMs and build up the apps yourself.

Thanks. That's what I suspected, and it's fine.
How do I transfer the gTablet from the previous owner's Google account to mine? Is wiping the user cache sufficient, so I can log into my Google account from the tablet and associate the table with it, or is there something else that needs to be done?

Thanks!
Ron

I would suggest that you boot into recovery (power and volume +) and do a Wipe Data/Factory Reset and Wipe Cache. I would also go into Mounts/Storage and Format the SD Card. With VeganTab the internal memory is SDCard and the External card is SDCard2.

You should then be able to treat the Tab as a brand new installation.

This may be a silly question (remember I'm a complete Android newby), but how do you format the internal SDCard? Do I install Clockworkmod for that and then reboot into recovery to perform the format before installing a new custom ROM?

Thanks!
Ron

Do I simply connect the gTablet to my Windows computer and then format the "drive" for the internal gTablet 'sdcard'? If so, what file system do I use? Or am I completely missing something here?

You use Clockworkmod. If it is already running VeganTab, you shoudl already have CWM. Power off the device and power it back on while holding down the volume + button. That will boot you into the recovery. From there, follow my instructions in my previous post. You will find the option under Mounts/Storage.
