So, I currently have a few camera apps installed on my Samsung J7 prime, namely Candy Camera.
However, recently, an antivirus app Quick Heal detected the Candy Camera app as a virus with the name Android.Ginmaster. I don't understand it though, I have scanned my phone with multiple antivirus apps like Kaspersky, Norton, AVG, Avast and Malwarebytes, none of them ever detected the app to be harmful. Now, I know many antivirus can skip some malware, but I wanted to verify if the app itself was harmful. I downloaded it from Google Playstore, not a third-party appstore, furthermore, it has over 100m downloads on playstore and good ratings. Again, I know that is not a clear-cut indicator of anything really, but here's the thing, the app has even been an editor's choice on playstore. Now, from what I understand, Google wouldn't just make an app editor's choice if it had malware, right?
The app comes from Chinese developers JP Brothers Inc. and there are some things stated in its privacy policy that concerns me because it says it collects data to understand their customers, but other camera apps have same policies, so I'm confused.
Could someone please clarify whether the app is actually harmful or it is just a false positive?
Thank you so much in advance.
