If I moved my apps over to SD card, and had to do a full factory restore will my apps be saved.

For example, I beat several levels of angry birds, and I want to restore my phone to factory settings, when every thing comes back up will It keep all the levels I played?

I am pretty sure that you would have to root then use titanium backup. Not an expert but I think I tried what you proposed before and it did not work for me.

No, you would lose your progress. You could use My Root Backup which backs up the apk (app) and the data along with it.

Try taking the sd out. Then restoring. Alot of apps keep you progress on their servers. Just like if to uninstall and reinstall you progress remains the same

Is there any downside to putting apps on the SD card as opposed to leaving them on the phone? Do they run any different? I know that some have to remain on the phone but for those I can move I am wondering what the affect would be

I don't any. Down side its when your phone powers back up to scan media on sd it will take longer depending on the amount of space used.

That and generally, it will run a little bit slower than running off the internal memory. An analogy would be running something off your home computer SATA drive vs an external USB drive. The internal is just a bit snappier.

Okay, so I had moved a bunch of my apps to my SD after I "upgraded" my Epic to Froyo, which was the one feature I was really anticipating. Now, I just had to do a hard reset to try and remedy some of the problems I've had since "upgrading". I assumed that the apps on my SD card would be available to me once I went into the market, or that there would be an option to restore the apps, but I can't figure out how it's done. Are the apps still there? Cuz I went into the SD card using the Epic's file explorer, but I don't see them. If I re-download the apps, will they now be on my phone twice?

What is the point of being able to put the apps on your SD if you can't get them back after a wipe?? What a disaster these phones are. After waiting forever for Froyo, and having all the problems I, and many others, have had, and now this SD thing, I'm so over it....:( When IS Sprint getting the iphone???

apps2SD was the the silliest most pointless feature, it was made for low end phones with no internal storage. I would have to install my largest app 700 times before i ran low on space. moving to your sd card also slows the performance and breaks the widget fuctionality.

Next time try appbrain or my backup pro...or if you are up for it root and grab titanium back up .

apps are probably still on your sd card somplace in a folder. try hooking it up to your computer and mounting your card or get something like astro

Thanks Droid....I'll try Astro, or hook it up to my laptop and try to find them that way. As for Appbrain, I went there first, but when I synced my apps, it took the apps that were on my newly wiped phone and put them in Appbrain, instead of taking the apps that I had installed on the site and puttin them back on the phone! Worked in the reverse of how I thought it would work. What the hell is the point of that?!?

after reflash the phone you open up app brain and just sync it and you dont need to go and remember what apps you had you can just download them all again but not have to look for them...i would test out and see what folder the moved apk's go but i dont have a phone right now

Yeah, that's what I thought, but it didn't work like that for me :-/ I'm checkin' for the apk's now...

Okay, the only folder I found that I think they may be in is the .android_secure folder, but the files end in ".asec" what is that?

I searched for .apk, and I only had old app files in that, but not the newer ones that I had moved there yesterday that I'm lookin to restore....would they have deleted for some reason?

I can't think of anyway they would have been deleted, even if you used odin they would still be there

I've been there and got the same results. I lost all of my apps and their data. I was especially upset with losing my Angry Bird level, and the gas mileage app for my car.

I rooted, and installed my backup root. Every so often I run a backup of apps and data, and copy it to my computer. Now every time I try a Rom, I simply install my backup root, and run a restore. If for any reason the backup from the SD is not there (it always is) I can use the copy I placed on the computer. The only thing left to do is remove all of the unneeded Facebook contacts.

Hope that helps you in the future, since I suspect your data is pretty much gone for now.
