Apps just appear

My wife has a droid x. She has apps that just show up on her Home screens that have not been installed. Has anybody had this? When you click on them they take you to Google play and try to get you to install them. How do we make this stop.? Thanks in advance.

You don't. Verizon (or Google) is pushing those "stubs" to the phone. The only thing you can do is hide them.
