My apps keep crashing when I'm switching between them, when I press on an app for example the messenger app it'll say could not open messenger.. I've been having this issue for a few weeks now and it's getting very annoying, anyone else having this problem? I attached a screenshot of the message I get.. It happens often with google messenger and facebook messenger

That's not an issue that I've seen reported in here before. I strongly suspect another app is causing your problem. Probably the best solution would be remove all apps and the add them back in one at a time until you find the offending app.

Before removing anything, start in safe mode. That way, no downloaded apps will be running. Then try Messenger. If it works, some other app is causing a problem. Run one at a time until you have the problem. The last one you ran is the bad one. Uninstall it, restart the phone and reinstall that app from the play store directly.

Messenger is the only thing that crashes for me...everything else is gravy. Mainly happens when you pick it from the task switcher.

Google Messenger also does the same thing on mine.. It has been mentioned here in the forums before, and it is suspected an issue with the app itself.
The only times when it does not crash when picked from the task switcher is if I close out of messenger with the home button instead of the back button. By doing so it keeps the app in RAM

Had the same problem on my nexus 6, and here on the nexus 6p. Messenger just had an update last night, maybe it was fixed...i use a different program now.

Material messaging. I've found it to be the best, supports MMS over Wifi, custom colors etc. And it's free.
