is it possible to switch apps from the internal memory to the SD card. I'm not seeing the option to make the switch.

No, this stopped being an option in Ice Cream Sandwhich, and remains this way in Jelly Bean. However, if you root, some ROMs re-enable this option (at least in ICS)
