apps to sd - where do they go?

Just a simple question, not using Links2SD or Apps2SD or anything like that, just the basic Android file system...where does it put them when you click "move to SD?" Does it put them on the sd card or the sd-ext partition?

The Froyo A2SD move the apps to the FAT32 section of the sd card.
