Google has now added the require eyes open for face unlock option in the April security update.

Using the Pixel 4 XL again and boy do I miss the secure face unlock on the S20. Works so awesome on Pixel and iPhone, always a trade off with if you want the full screen or the face unlock. I personally like secure face unlock option.

I'm going to keep "require eyes to be open" off just to spite all the freakin annoying YouTube reviewers who made such a big stink out of nothing. 😆

I downloaded and installed while out, riding the gravel roads, looking for birds and other wildlife. (Not that you all wanted to know that.) All seems well, so far. I haven't read if the update includes anything else.

I am so deep in work that (a) I completely forgot there would be an April update and (b) I literally did the update and just put my phone aside having glanced at an article that only cited the little bug changes.

... then I caught The Verge headline. Whoa! This is not a minor update. Of course, like all of you, I tested it over and over with my eyes open and closed. Does it say something on the screen about opening your eyes when your eyes are closed? That would be funny. Because you can't see it.

(p.s. it was disabled by default for me, Verge says enabled by default)
