Hi everyone, I have a Pixel 2 and one reason I wanted it was because of the "no scale down" on google photos. I was wondering if that's true because when I try to watch my videos on my ipad or chromecast it to the TV, the video looks like it is scaled down and not as clear as watching it on the phone. Is there a setting I have to do? Thanks

I'm not really sure what you're asking. When I look at the image information for a picture stored in Google Photos and then download that same image to my device the image information is the same (file size, etc). If I look at the original picture in Google Photos and then look at the downloaded version they look the same.
Of course, if I view the thing on a 55" TV it's not going to look as good as it did on my phone or tablet.

For the first two years the free back up Google gives you is original quality. After that you get either free high quality back ups which are downsized or you pay for storage and continue to have original quality backed up.

Hi thanks for your reply. What I'm referring to is when I record a video on my phone and transfer that file onto a flash drive and put the flash drive into my tv and watch that recording, it's clear HD. If I cast that same file onto my TV through chromecast or try watching it on my ipad, the quality doesn't look as clear. That's why I was asking if videos were original size or if they were scaled down. If they aren't scaled down, I'm just wondering why it doesn't come out as clear as if it was the actual file from a flash drive.

Videos uploaded to Google Photos are kept at their resolution they were taken at.
