Are the folders that Facebook stores it's "user data" accessible without root?

My father has a Samsung Galaxy S7, and was complaining to me that his phone kept running out of space, I was trying to figure out why since he doesn't have much on it and uses a SDcard for any photos/videos, and I saw that Facebook was taking up an ABSURD 16GB of space for User Data. Again, this is not the cache (Which "only" takes up 177MB) but the User Data. Is there any way I can see what's in this user data to make sure I am not deleting any photos or videos or whatever that he would need before clearing it?
