are photos saved to my phone backed up to gmail?

I just upgraded from s4 to s5 and can only find my photos taken with the camera on gmail. Are photos saved to the phone auto backed up as well?

Photo are not automatically backed up to Gmail. Photos are only backed up when you go to Google + (the app .. go to settings) and turn the "Auto Backup" feature on. After that photos will be backed up to Google + and you can have previous photos backed up by hitting the "Backup All" button Google +.

There is also the new Photos App. It works like the Gallery to view your pictures; the first time you use the app, it will ask you if you want too auto backup your pictures. It uses Google Drive. Careful, I have seen it upload the backups over cellular. Make sure you backup using Wi-Fi.
