Are there any root methods for the TB if it has MR2 installed?

If no, is there a way to downgrade to MR1 so that I can root?

You can root from the mr2.... follow the auto root procedure. It will root your phone and the last flash will revert your phone back to the mr1. Once rooted, you can then flash the mr2 or mr2.5 for root users... (must be on a gingerbread rom or froyo rom that supports the mr2).
Or you can stay rooted and use the mr1.. your choice.
