I love android just like everyone else here, but when has it become ok for us to all be jerks. I see it countless times, someone ask for help on here or any android forum and a lot of the time there are a lot of jerk responses. For example someone says I dropped my phone and cracked the screen what should I do? Some of the responses will be like "You should be more careful and not drop your phone" or other unhelpful responses. It's like a lot of you would rather make the other person feel bad than actually help the person out. I'll bet if you dropped your phone you would be on here crying. This is supposed to be a place where people can go and talk about anything and everything android. To be honest with all the jerks and fanboys it's made me ashamed to be a android user. I hate to feel that way, I'm sure there will be plenty of jerk responses to this. I would like to see this change. Stop with all the fanboy bullcrap, They are phones after all, it doesn't matter if you prefer Iphone or android they all do the same thing. Stop attacking people when there asking for help.

On another note I thought that Ics was a complete android rewrite. While this Version of android is miles better than before, I still feel it lacks the smoothness that the iphone has. I know android does more but I have been waiting and waiting for andorid to have that ui smoothness that iphone has. I know iphone is just a grid of icons but the animations, and smooth scrolling is still better than android. We finally have transition animations, and smoother ui scrolling but there are still a couple moments of lag. Before you say go get a iphone I will say this the iphone is tiny, doesn't have 4g, can't change the ui,can't flash roms, can't have widgets and so on. I don't want a iphone I want android to be android just be smooth like the iphone. So I read that google would have to rewrite android to get the smooth ui with no lag. That it will happen eventually but not anytime soon. So what do you guys think? Thanks for reading.

I agree with the first paragraph!

Secondly, I read myself can't recall the place that it says iPhone prioritizes the UI and then apps, where Android prioritizes apps then UI. So from that article it says that is the reason there is lag sometimes in Android UI. But that is just what I read and didn't research into it to much.

I read the same article. Android may never be as smooth as iOS, says ex-Googler | Android and Me

"Android follows the traditional PC model of rendering occurring on the main thread with normal priority.

This is a not an abstract or academic difference. You can see it for yourself. Grab your closest iPad or iPhone and open Safari. Start loading a complex web page like Facebook. Half way through loading, put your finger on the screen and move it around. All rendering instantly stops. The website will literally never load until you remove your finger. This is because the UI thread is intercepting all events and rendering the UI at real-time priority.

If you repeat this exercise on Android, you’ll notice that the browser will attempt to both animate the page and render the HTML, and do an ‘ok’ job at both. On Android, this a case where an efficient dual core processor really helps, which is why the Galaxy S II is famous for its smoothness."

IMO This is just a example of how Android is capable of more than IOS. The "lag" may never completely disappear but, with faster hardware, will be less noticeable in future devices. I saw a huge difference moving from a single core ThunderBolt to the dual core Galaxy Nexus.

I had written something close to this and never published it but I agree.
One thing that has bothered me is all the bashing going on lately.

Especially between Rezound and GN owners. Seriously, who cares what phone a member bought as long as they are happy with it, I am happy for them.

Why would you come on a forum and say you dropped your phone? I could understand if you said I dropped my phone and the screen is cracked, what should I do....I have done blank, blank, and blank. But instead there are a lot of posts that resemble tweets. The wonderful thing about forums is it gives everyone an equal voice, the problem with forums is it gives everyone an equal voice.

To correct slightly if you are loading a complex web page put your finger on the screen and move it around it will APPEAR to freeze. It's loading just not showing it. If you were to do it long enough then remove your finger the entire page fully loaded will pop up. So it's not any slower by doing that.

Edit. Not entirely true. I can get it to completely stop loading on occasion . Very interesting to see the differences between the two os's

to the OP, unfortunately this is what happens when web forums get too popular. Ive seen it before. You get every type of person coming here on occasion and that includes the a-holes, extremists, etc., whic eventually drive out the knowledgable, kind people.

The OP's point is, if that's how you feel no one is forcing you to reply to that post.

Avid, frothing fanboys are part of the nature of the beast. After all, this is a forum dedicated to Android Phones which tends to draw a specific crowd. As with anything on the web, you're going to have people who are just extremely devoted to the topic at hand. Unfortunately, this causes those people to become defensive when you give any slight criticism to their topic of interest. You can't purge this behavior. It is inevitable especially with the anonymous nature of internet forums giving people an outlet for some immature or condescending behavior that they don't normally enact if they were speaking to someone face to face.

Then you have people who like to push the fanboys buttons because it is easy to get them riled up (trolls) and it provides them entertainment.

The point is just simply don't read their posts and don't give them any attention if you find it off-putting. Spending enough time anywhere gives you a good gauge of how certain posters will behave and gives you indicators whether or not to take what they say with any value. At that point you can continue reading their post or just ignore it altogether. If they derail a thread then report their behavior to a moderator or admin.

Also not all android fans will be "fanboys". There is certainly a rational sect of people out there that are more than willing to help others when asked. :)

EDIT: I should also add that it's also on the original thread poster to follow just common sense and good forum decorum. Search for the topic you want addressed first before posting. Your question may already be answered. If not, post a new thread with a descriptive topic and a friendly tone. Those kind of threads will generally get more favorable responses than when people write up a topic that has a vague thread title and/or condescending tone.

It's also human nature to defend a product you bought and enjoy when it appears some is bashing it. This can make someone look like a fanboy.

Comparing android's shortcomings to ios and ios' shortcomings to android always leads to this:

You can't always get what you want.

So you would rather the op who dropped his phone do insurance fraud and purchase insurance after they break their phone? That is crazy. People said what they did because the op was blaming it on verizon saying they should replace his phone. No fanboy there just people upset about all the people trying to scam everyone and feel they are entitled to something they are not.

@OP

Your shock at people's responses to posts on the internet shows either your inexperience on forums or the increase in android users can finally accurately represent the multitude of factions present in our society. There are ALL kinds of people out there with different motivations, abilities and interest coming together here. There is bound to be disorder and conflicts of opinion.

Just read the comments on financial/political news if you really want to be concerned about the rudeness of a community. Android community is kitty stuff in comparison.

And the development community is starting to get some ROMs out with very impressive "buttery" smoothness. It could simply be that they are AOSP on 4.0.3 idk.

To counter the OP's first paragraph I'll point out that there are a lot of whiners on these forums also. I find them just as annoying, maybe more annoying, than the smart a$$ wise crackers. And, I find the first paragraph in the OP's post bordering on being a whiner post. Yes, I understand he's just trying to make the world a better place. Kumbaya and all that. But that's not the real world. As anyone that played sports will tell you, whiners don't get very far.

I find the bashing and flaming here is a lot less than on some other forums I visited. Nevertheless it's annoying when someone flips off another poster.

The first paragraph says more about our culture than it does about this forum. Americans increasingly want to be treated like victims. If I drop my phone it sucks. Why would I create a thread about it? If the screen is cracked it will have to be repaired or replaced.

The internet is full of trolls, jerks, and people who aren't nice. Just like life.

Life isn't fair, people are mean, and at some point we'll all drop our phones.

Don't expect to be coddled.

Starting a post about breaking your phone is not necessarily a problem. Were here to talk about the phone, how it works, our interactions with it. So if your telling a story about your experience with it because you know coming here you will have others who can feel your pain....as opposed to say...a wife...who would just think your a bigger geek...then i have no problem with it.

If, on the other hand, your here to whine about how you breaking your phone is somehow someone elses fault....then kindly go away. Personal responsibility is somehow lost on this world anymore....

...These forums and the internet as a whole show that our society is sick. Unfortunately that is the world we live, where people anonymously sit behind keyboards and spew hate or whine. Blame parenting, blame our society....but most of all blame the individuals for allowing the worst of themselves be on display when they think they cant be seen. Dont blame android or fanboys or whatever. The internet is what it is to go all cliche', at its best it is a wonderful tool for knowledge. Its usually a cesspool though and you just have to put your big boy pants on and deal with it......this particular forum is pretty tame.

Agreed! Whiners get on my nerve, especially the ones that come out of the box blaming someone else or a piece of equipment for their own shortcomings.

No piece of equipment is perfect. And while constructive criticism is a great thing, sometimes it's wise to focus on the positive aspects than seeing the glass half empty every time.

I'm not sure the OP was talking about that particular thread specifically. I think he was speaking in general and, I agree and understand what he's talking about. It's no big deal to me because I spend time on several other forums and, have seen it all. Sometimes it's pretty funny and sometimes not. I just ignore who I don't want to deal with and, don't worry about it.

I am new to the foum and already in the first hour have found atleast half a dozen useful tips, tricks and suggestions. I think a lot of new members to any forum don't use the search function to make sure topics have not been discussed before. Just a thought.
