Are you getting insurance for your S8?

It just takes one accidental drop, then you'll have a shattered back or front glass and lost out $850. I usually buy my phones full price without insurance, but it'll be risky with the S8. Usually I would use a regular TPU case. Not trying to get an ugly OtterBox case for my phone, those things are hideous!

Probably not. Always figure I can buy another phone if I really wreck my current one. Even if it's not another 'flagship' I can buy something to get me through...

I also generally have 3 or 4 different phones on hand as well.

Yep, I'll probably keep the same company I have on my V20. I pay $8/month with $50 deductible for $799 of coverage.

I will be using Verizon asurion insurance. It covers the active device on my line

I've gone with geeksquad lately since I buy the device from bb I think they are pretty good

I have American Express and above all a case and tempered glass. A phone will not break with proper protection.

That's just not true. It *is* true that proper protection makes it MUCH less likely for a phone to break. But, it is absolutely not a guarantee.

My S7 is in a plastic case that also protects the camera and I have tempered glass on the screen. No normal drop will damage it. If I however drop it off the balcony then that's a different story. Going without a case is insane, even with insurance.

Using AT&T asurion insurance provider. Better paying the deductible instead of full replacement $750.

I would consider it only if they say charge me $10 a month without any deductable required.

I haven't followed up but the latest I heard is they want $250.

Pay your monthly cellular bill with a card that automatically gives insurance.

I used this on my Galaxy S6 when I broke the camera lens in my pocket and it had got the a little wet from using in the pool. It was pain free. Hardest part was finding place to give me on paper saying it was a total lose with the water damage and broken camera. I used the money to upgrade to Galaxy S7.

Did you have to send in your phone? Show pictures?

One advantage of getting the insurance with my carrier is the smartphone upgrade program, that saves me a lot of money every year

Normally I just keep my previous phone to be my insurance. Though with possibly switching carriers this year, my previous devices will no longer be able to be my insurance (currently on Sprint) so may get the carrier insurance when I switch until I upgrade in the future and start the backup phone cycle again.

Same here. I have my Nokia Luma 635, some cheap LG MetroPCS used only for Softcard, Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6, and Galaxy S7 as backups for my Galaxy S7. They are ATT phones except for the LG but they are carrier unlocked for use on other networks.

They only requested I get proof of damage from a cell phone repair place. No pictures requested and I still got to keep the phone. It is barely water damaged so it still works fine. It even cover theft with a police report. Most cellphone carriers don't cover that. The insurance is through Assurian which is what ATT uses. I am not sure what other carriers uses. Assurian gave me check written off of Bank of America even through Wells Fargo pays them. They didn't collect the $25 deductable just lowered the check by $25.

Verizon insurance will cover theft and even loss without a police report
