Are you going to use a different UI instead of Touchwiz?

I think I'm going to use adw launcher instead of stock touchwiz. I really like the look of stock froyo.

I am a big fan of launcher pro, so if I had a non htc android device, I'd go with that. But if froyo can have a stock android skin, that would be great too. Hopefully touchwiz is not overlaid over 2.2

I really like launcher pro, and I used to think that that would be my UI of choice if I was on a non-sense phone (haha, nonsense), but I've grown fond of touchwiz the more I've read about it. I'll give both a shot.

Out of curiosity, if you use a homescreen replacement like launcherpro, do you still have access to the Samsung widgets and other touchwiz customizations?

adw has a gala s theme. I'm going to try that out for a bit and see if I like touchwiz-esque. its free... worth a shot.

I honestly don't see th ebig deal with all the UI. I don't see the major difference. I had an EVo for 2 days. The only thing I noticed was the 4 buttons on the dash. Why would I care about that?

I haven't heard of that! Do you have any links to pics or videos of this theme? What elements of it mimic touchwiz?

so far, ive noticed the drawer acts like the galaxy s phones where they swype like pages

Its pretty neat... trying to figure out how to set the 4 icons on the bottom like the picture of the theme has.

Edit: can't put 4 programs on the bottom, just 2.

I was pretty skeptic about TW before 3.0, so I thought of using 3rd party launchers, but since I have seen TW3.0, and later used it on Vibrant, I have grown pretty fond of it. Widgets are not as many as HTC-Sense would provide, and Sense's widgets are better, but Samsung is just getting its feet wet with Android with Galaxy S lineup and hopefully they will add more quality widgets with time. So I am sticking with stock TW3.0, but I will give LauncherPro a try to see how it works.

I like the app drawer more than the iPhone menu(I really don't like the iPhone too much). What is the keyboard for adw and launcher pro? I don't know yet if I'm going to use th. Physical keyboard yet just because I'm better and faster with a touchscreen. I like the option of having a physical keyboard though.

I hope the keyboard is much better, actually, I hope Swype will help me type more accurately. The iPhone 3G S's/4's keyboard is just plain awful IMO. I can't type anything without making a mistake. Yet, I could type on an Evo way more accurately, but still with a few mistakes. The Blackberry was the best though: I literally made little to no mistakes on many of the texts I sent while maintaining my typing speed...if you don't count those times where I tried to beat that Swype world record lol.

i have used a captivate and the vibrant. And honestly i have grown fond of touchwiz. Ill give it a chance before i look for a new ui

I am assuming youre referring to 3rd party themes and such? If so I have never bee a fan honestly, although I have seen quite a few decent looking ones here and there.

Hmm? What "picture of the theme" are you talking about? You can definitely set four programs to the bottom bar of ADW, it just defaults to Froyo's standard two.

Yeah, I haven't figured it out. See the buttons at the top? those are the pages for the app drawer... which is not a drawer in this theme, its pages like iPhone/Galaxy S

Right, I'm using the Galaxy S style drawer right now:

You don't need to install a theme, it's a setting within the program:

I have an ipod touch and it can't keep up with me. I type a sentence doing probably 40 wpm and it lags behind so i have to stop and let it catch up. I tried the evo and the typing on it was very weird. It wasn't like i didn't like it, just I was not familiar with it at all.

Is it the haptic feedback? I had an ipod touch for a while, until someone jacked it from my glovebox. Then I got the Hero with haptic feedback, and liked it. When I use my gf's ipod ouch, it feels so weird to me not having it. I'm going to have to make the same adjustment with the Epic... but its an adjustment I'm more than happy to make.

No it was just really bad lag. I think i'm going to try to use swype in portrait mode for the epic. Or use the stock android keyboard in landscape. I just hate how loud physical keyboards are when everyone is quite.

Although Im a virtual keyboard hater, I am excited tot try the swipe texting. I know I will iuse the physical keyboard more though but still nice to use every now and again. I also hope that my BT collapsable keyboard works with it for those lengthy emails and documents.
