Are you still happy with your Gear S?

Why or why not? How has your usage decreased or increased since your first day of purchase?

I'm OK with mine, usage is not an issue other than phone calls & text because the thing can't really do anything. There's not many apps for it. And what is available for it are getting bad reviews. A couple I've tried like the Watch Styler app doesn't work at all. Almost everything has to be done with the phone, I have one note app that can be used stand alone on the watch. I still wear and use mine every day, but I don't think I would miss it. I use it for phone calls a lot because it is easier to use from my wrist than pulling my phone off my belt to answer or make a call. I have my phone and the watch and a BT headset connected by BT all the time. I like mine still for the convenience but it is very limited use.

I've worn it every day since I got it.

I seldom use the cellular feature at the moment, but expect that to pick up as I do more long rides (I won't use it for tracking them, but just as a communication device).

The notifications on BT work great, and most days I put it back on the charger before bed at greater than 50% battery. Pretty happy.

I use my Gear S exponentially more and more each day. Incoming emails, missed calls, facebook updates, breaking news, S-Health, CNN updates, Flipboard updates, text messages, make phone calls, quick text replies, the list goes on, calculator, compass, unit conversions, stock market updates, Samsung wallet, Milk Music, stop watch, this thing is the Cat's Meow!

I still wear mine daily and love it. I've probably sold a half dozen or so for Samsung. I don't play with it as much as I did when I first got it but I love getting my text messages and updates on my wrist. I find it also works great for phone calls while driving since my wrist is sitting at the top of the steeming wheel anyway. I used to change the face with watch styler all the time but lately I've just been using the stock blue face. I usually leave my phone in my desk drawer at work and leave it there until I leave (most of the time I even forget to take my phone to lunch). I use the Nike+ to map my runs and don't have to run with an arm band anymore. I've had it over a month and have no reservations at all.

I wear my Gear S everyday. I use it for what I used it for on day one...notifications. As mentioned above, it does very little else. It appears that it's going to be a placeholder for whatever Samsung releases after the iwatch releases. Apps for it aren't anything I'm interested in and it seems that the app store is full of apps that are waaaaaaaay overpriced. The app store will be the downfall of this device....well that and lack of anything that even hints at a quality app.

Thanks for sharing. I was absolutely nuts about this watch prior to release, and have owned the Galaxy Gear and Gear 2 prior. When it was known of the curve screen and its standalone feature, I knew I got to have it. The novelty has died down a lot, but I still love it. Sadly though because of its short battery life, I wear it mostly at the gym and to dinners. After each work out with the music playing, battery is down to 50% after just 1 hour! If it can last as long as my Note 4 and an improved SVoice, I will be set for life. 😄

I think the long-term disappointment is understandable. I like my Gear S, and apps like Gear Notification Extender have made it more useful, so I'm actually using mine more.

But I think a lot of people were expecting these things to do more than they do. The app situation is kind of lame, and frankly, many of them are just useless to me, even if they were any good.

My expectations weren't high when I got mine, but I'll tell you who's going to be in for the shock of their lives: Apple fans. So many people ask me about what the S can do, and they're floored. Then they inevitably tell me they're Apple people, and can't wait to do all that when they get their iWatch. "Leave my iPhone behind!" "Talk and text on it without the phone!" "Go for a run with just my watch!"

I don't have the heart to break it to them: the iWatch is no Gear S.

I have a Garmin watch for my workouts. Except when I sleep and shower I almost always have one or the other on.

The Garmin 910 is great for going all day t tracking a workout, the Gear S is great for going all day for communications.

Garmin's newer watches have a few notification features built in, I suspect in a few years we will have a watch that can last doing both, but not yet.

Before I buy the Gear Notification Extender, can I reply thru Yahoo Mail and Outlook? Can it also work in standalone or remote connect mode? I have been getting issues with Samsung's stock email, mainly cuz of delayed emails so looking for a better option. Thanks!

I don't go anywhere except to bed and the shower without my Gear S on. Mine is 99 percent of the time remotely connected because we cannot use Bluetooth devices at work. I don't want to have to remember to turn my bluetooth on and off.

I love not taking my phone with me on our dog walks. I love my phone but its just easier for walks than to take my phone along.

I love to get my reminders on my gear. I have to have reminders for almost everything. The vibration when a notification comes through helps me to get things done a little quicker. I found that leaving my phone on the table and when one of my reminders goes off it's a lot easier to ignore than the buzz on my wrist. ;)

One of the biggest things for me is that I consider it to be a safety thing. If I were to for example fall down the stairs, I am here most of the time alone and I have not been able to teach my dogs to call 911. As long as my gear doesn't get broken in the fall I have a phone on me that I can call for help. I will just have to remember to tuck it and roll, LOL! I feel a little bit safer now that I have my Gear and I don't have to pay for a Lifeline account!

My gear has also been a prompt for me to walk more then I used to because the pedometer is like a little nudge to not be such a chair potato.

I am a little bummed with the pedometer though. I found out that it's not quite so accurate. As a test I had my gear on and I checked the pedometer, ruffed up my hair a little roughly and then rechecked the pedometer. Although I was standing still the "hair ruffing activity" cause my pedometer to walk 200 steps that I never took :( makes me wonder how many times my gear cheats every day without me knowing about it.

Might wanna ask the developer about that, as I use neither, but my understanding is that if the app supports notifications for Android Wear, then they'll show up. I use it flawlessly with Gmail and Hangouts. I left the stock Messaging app through Gear.

I didn't buy my watch for the apps. I bought it for what I knew it could do which was to send text messages and phone calls to the watch so that I don't miss them when the phone is in my bag. The fact that I can leave my phone at home and still get texts and calls on the watch is even better.

It is limited but still like it. I liked my gear 2 more now I have the S. Didn't think I would miss the camera. I like the bigger screen but think I like the style of the 1 and 2 better. I use watch styler most the time as I make my own personal faces. App works great.

After a month of continuous use it still amazes me how fantastic it is. The best solution i have found for my usage scenario.

I carry two phones - work(Gear S) and personal(Note 4). I use the Gear S as a seperate number and mostly remote connected (except weekends). Now i dont have pockets full of phones!

I dont give a toss about the fitness rubbish(use dedicated fitness equipment) and never would have a wearable that was just a companion device(unjustifiable).

My dream come true!

Discovered something is seriously inaccurate with S Health.

I left the phone that my Gear S is synced with which is my Note 4 and brought my Note Edge with me on Friday night. Both started out with 0 steps and by the end of the night, I walked 8325 according to the watch and the Note Edge says 4894.

I have no idea which one to even believe now.

I find my phone to be much more inaccurate than my watches. If I am wearing sweat pants when I grocery shop and it's in my pocket it'll show in excess of 10k steps in the half hour it takes me to shop but if it's in my jacket pocket it might not even be 100 extra steps from when I went in until I was done. A little fyi, that's why I got a watch in the first place, the Fit, because I'd used the grocery store test on several occasions with my phone and every time the results were dramatically different even though I buy basically the same stuff every week, walking basically the same route. The only half way accurate steps are when it's in a holster on my hip. I counted 100 steps with it that way as a test and it showed 102.
If I'm exercising I use my Fit, for everything else I've switched to the S for its extra abilities. I've only had the S a few weeks but like everything about it so far except it's a pain to line up the charger on the back.

I wear mine everyday. People ask me if its the new Apple watch. As far as thoughts go, I do go back and forth with Android Wear verses the Tizen OS. I do not really have much in the way of apps. The screen is sort of awkward to use with the apps. Its been nice to have the cell phone feature on the watch. There are times when I forgot my phone in my car or other and do not bother to go back and get it knowing that the messages and calls will be forwarded. Not happy about the charging cradle though. The plastic piece broke off that snaps to the phone and I got it replaced. This one seems like it will break at any time which would mean that I would need to buy another charging cradle.

As far as watch faces, they really do not work as well as the stock watch faces so, in some respect, I have given up on looking for new apps. So, the sole purpose of the watch at this point is to use it as notifications which was the same feature as the Moto 360. With the new LG Urbane coming out along with the Huawei maybe it will be time to switch again in another few months. Never in my life have I gone through so many watches as I have in the last 12 months with the Samsung Gear series and Moto 360

Kind of losing my love for it. I like it but... It's just like the gear 2..I can only use it for the watch and notifications but other than that... Nothing.. No apps for it worth wild. I thought this would be a huge hit with Samsung but I don't see them keeping up to date with this.

Still wear it everyday and feel naked if I forget to put it on. Even if I'm going out somewhere formal and wear my normal wristwatch as it's a bit more dressier I instantly look at it for notifications when I hear my phone go off in my pocket. Yeah a lot of the novelty has worn off so only really use it for notifications, time, pedometer and gps fitness tracking but that's still worth it for me. I feel Samsung isn't really supporting it with updates or the app store which really doesn't help
