As an addon to the phone switch poll, are you switching from another carrier for Evo. If from Sprint, which phone?

I have said all along, the Evo/Wimax combination is going to do more damage to ATT than any other carrier. ATT's cost and dropped calls have pushed people away. If you're not an iPhan or tied by a company account, then you've been waiting for a combination like this that make's it worthwhile to leave. Going to VZW might have brought better Android and other devices, but the high cost would still be there.

I would not be surprised to see Sprint really hit ATT hard, and I don't think the upcoming iPhone is going to stop the bleeding from the non-iPhan ATT ranks.

I'm leaving T-mobile and retiring my G1 to go with Sprint an the Evo. I was actually a sprint customer years ago when it was Sprint PCS and I took my number to T-Mobile. Now I'm bringing the same number back to Sprint.

I also called sprint yesterday to find out about a porting credit I had read about and they said that was a promotion they were doing last April. Anyone know how to get them to honor it?

Sprint CSR told me that porting credit is currently only for business-owned phones right now. You can probably talk them into waiving your activation fee though.

ATT will probably just see an immeasurable blip but Palm really needs to act. They need to announce new hardware before Evo is released, even if it's months away. I'd stick with webOS if it had a larger screen and faster CPU.

Evo could be the catapult for Sprint in the end.

I am switching from Verizon and their high ass prices. I seriously just bought a HTC DROID INCREDIBLE and I was secretly eyeing the EVO all along. I just switched over to Sprint last week and my pockets are thanking me already. Now all we have to do is wait for June 4th.

^You might have switched a little too soon. Will you still be able to get new customer pricing for Evo?

Not that small polls would reflect reality but the poll so far has consistently shown nearly 50% are coming from outside of Sprint. If Sprint sells 1M EVOs in first month or three, could mean up to 500K new adds for the quarter. A boost they really need.

They need one helluvan ad campaign at launch though, if not sooner

I may or may not switch, but it will not be just because I have to have the latest, greatest gear.

It's about whether the carrier is superior in many categories [network, customer service, gear and price]. One should not jump carriers just for a device, that's what "test drives" are for.

I'm on sprint using a blackberry, old modded sero account. Going to be giving it up for this phone.

I'm leaving Sprint for the iphone because of the EVO 4g charge. Does that count?

And even with the $10 charge its still $10 cheaper with Sprint.

Sprint
$69 Everything Any Mobile Plan + $10 premium data
$79 total

AT&T
$39 450 min plan
$20 unlimited text
$30 data
$89 total

So to me the Sprint plan includes way more minutes with the any mobile, unlimited 3g & 4g, less expensive. I don't see the benefit unless that what you want.

If I lived in a 4g market it may make sense, but I don't. It makes more sense to pay more each month and receive all the services I am paying for, than to pay less each month and include services I cannot access like 4g. Lets not forget that AT&T 3g allows for simultaneous voice and data while you can only do that on Sprint's meager 4g network. Driving 4 hours for that benefit just doesn't make sense to me.
