So, I've had some back and forth with the company Arkon regarding a few of their mounts for the Thunderbolt. Let me first say that the guy I've been dealing with has been incredibly responsive and helpful. He gets back to me almost immediately, even last night at like 9pm EST.
They've expressed to me that their SM521-MICRO model holder, which is the one that plugs into the cig lighter socket and has a microUSB cable that also can charge, outputs 5V 850mA. I know I've read that the VZW charger is like 750 and the Motorola 1A charger is much better. Is that 850mA enough to charge the Bolt while I might be using the GPS?
I have an Arkon cigarette lighter charger just like this for my old Garmin and love it. I find the cigarette lighter car mount to be very practical on my Civic.
