As a 3G Phone, will I be impressed with battery?

I must decide between this and the MAXX. I have already used my one return when I ditched the galaxy nexus, so whatever I choose will be the keeper. To be honest, I really don't care that much about 4G, I would rather have a thin phone than a 4G fast phone. I am coming from a blackberry curve, so I have high (and unreasonable) hopes for battery life.

My question is: If I buy the Razr and keep it on 3G most of the time, am I going to be impressed with battery life? I figure, here is a phone with a battery built to handle the 4G network, so when I keep that phone on 3G it should in theory get at LEAST as good life as an older phone built for a 3G network, right? As a 3G phone, one would think the razr would perform well in the battery arena.

Or should I get the MAXX?

You've got a few things to consider, not the least of which is the MAXX is .07" thicker than the Razr, which is still one of the thinnest phones available.

I had decent battery life with the Razr, but it really depends on how you use the phone. What services do you typically use during the day? BT? Nav? Apps that depend on GPS or other services?

I decided that I preferred the improved battery life of the MAXX due to how I use the phone during a typical day. It also provides some insurance against battery deterioration over time considering the Razr carries a fixed battery. I prefer not to carry additional charging devices. Good luck!

If you're talking about keeping it on 3G for better battery life, maybe you should just go with the RAZR MAXX and be able to enjoy LTE with less worries. Like GRB11 said above, it's still going to be a thin phone.

If that is the going sentiment, then I think that very few people will be choosing this phone unless they are either:
a) unable to afford the extra $100
b) always have a charger easily available and don't mind charging their phone regularly

Otherwise, it would seem people would go with the maxx. It will be interesting to see if loyal fans to the droid razr continue to support it over the maxx because of the size and weight, which I have to say are pretty awesome.

I get great battery life as it stands right now. I have Smart Actions set up so I don't have to worry about charging all the time. I bought the RAZR in part because of how thin and light it is. Now, even though it's not going to be much thicker, it's still going to be thicker and heavier than the RAZR. I'm out just based on that. The RAZR MAXX should be great for people who were on the fence about getting the RAZR due to concerns about battery life, though. I haven't had any issues, so I'm staying put.
I do agree with you that most people that walk into the store will want the bigger battery and not care about the little bit of added thickness and weight. It'll be a good trade off for them.
