Assistance/opinion needed please

I know I'm going to have to send my HTC U11 in for warranty repair due to the screen issue where it thinks my finger comes off the glass. It's gotten so bad I can no longer swype my messages without needing to correct most of what I typed multiple times. .

My concern is that I don't have a backup phone and with the multi month turn around time they've been experiencing since.... Well launch day, I need to get something to tide me over until it gets back.

I'm on T-Mobile, need a phone that's pretty fast, doesn't get bogged down easily but yet be pretty inexpensive. Since it'll be my daily driver for a few weeks, I don't want to cheap out and get super frustrated while using it.

I had been looking at the moto X4 from Google fi at 250 +1 months service.

Also looking at the honor 7x but I hear it's missing a few bands or features for T-mobile that could cause problems at some point, but it's only 200.

The moto z2 force from T-Mobile is more than I'd like to spend but is on sale for 375.

Do you guys have opinions on which one I should go for or have other recommendations on a device I hadn't thought of?

The U11 Life is only $300 from T-Mo. Its not quite the phone the Moto is, but it's not bad. Plus you'd be used to the interface, have a spare USB-C adapter and headphones for the U11 when you get it back.

Thanks guys for the feedback. When I was troubleshooting with HTC the tech suggested I take advantage of their 30 day no questions asked return policy, so I ordered a solar red U11 to use while mine is being repaired/replaced.

I received it today and it really is a gorgeous phone - I'll be sad to return it when I get my black one back.

Out of curiosity, what will you do if your phone takes as long as it seems to get repaired? From the reports here, I'd be surprised if you get yours back within a month.

I just sent back the "loaner" phone that I purchased from them as my 30 day return period ran out on the 15th. I got the moto x4 from Google fi so I have something to use and it'll become a backup if we have to send our phones in for any reason in the future.

I can say while it's a great phone, especially at the 250 price, I do see some lag on the x4 that I didn't have with the u11. Obviously it's a midrange phone and it's not horrible at all, just noticeable at times.

I keep getting the "we have no updates on your repair but you'll get an email as soon as they ship it". How many of us would just sit back and relax, never checking in while they fix it whenever?

I wanted to contact them again today as the RMA dept doesn't work weekends but had too much going on that I didn't notice it was already past 10pm. Last week I told them they had until this past Fri to get mine back to me or a new one sent in its place, but life happened and I didn't reach out.

Ultimately I will do a charge back thru Amex if they can't get it done this week as I think 6 weeks is more than ample time, especially since I, like everyone else was told 7-10 business days. I've already gathered the information I need to show they are not doing repairs in a reasonable time period.

Unfortunately they've lost a customer in me from this experience. I've also purchased 8 phones in 3 years for myself, my partner and my brother from HTC directly. And I LIKE their phones.
hey maybe they will try to win me back with sending me a u12+ instead!

Well I'm surprised as can be - woke up with an email from UPS saying that I have a package coming from flower mound Texas which is where their new service center is. It'll be here tomorrow, let's just hope it's my repaired phone.

Well it was my phone shipped back to me so that's good, right? Unfortunately it came back in a little box with a bubble wrap sleeve and nothing else. No explanation what was done to it or anything. It's the same screen that was on it before as I can still see the spots on the screen where I have touch issues at. Guess I am going to have to chat with them again.

The lack of communication is very disheartening to say the least. Their tracking site still only shows as service being requested, nothing about it being shipped, evaluated, fixed or anything.

On the other hand I did get an email confirmation that they received my returned solar red phone and then another email yesterday saying they processed my refund. But I think those came from digital river since it was a local address I sent it to.

HTC has horrible service turn around time. I took three months for me to get a replacement for my HTC 10. At least when I got it back it was in working order.
