Assistant Can't Turn on Existing Alarms?

Does anyone know how you can get Assistant to turn on an alarm you've already created? Google Home Routines include an option to "ask what time you want the alarm set for", but when you tell it, it creates a new alarm every time. Even just opening the assistant and asking it to turn on your repeating (daily) alarm you created, it creates a new one. By the end of the year you'd have 365 alarms. Essentially Assistant just needs to be able to flip the toggle switch on the alarm to turn it on, on command. Even if you ask it to show you your current alarms, it doesn't show unless the alarm is actually toggled on.

Bottom line, I'm curious if there is a way for the assistant to just turn on my existing alarm when I ask it to.

Thanks for any ideas!

Hi, welcome to AC!
Bixby routines

This. Or if you want to use voice, just setup Bixby and say "Hi Bixby, turn on (whatever time) alarm. I use Bixby to turn on my alarms everyday. Works like a charm. I know Bixby gets a bad rap around here, but when used for what it's intended for, Bixby works pretty good.

That's great info, thanks. I try to consolidate the number of applications I use as much as possible, so is there no way to do this with assistant? I'll give Bixby a try in the meantime, but so much of my other stuff is integrated with Google (Nest, simplisafe, etc). Sometimes it feels like using a pc for mail, a windows machine for browsing, etc. Nice to have it all in one place.

Bixby assistant actually is more integrated in the phones settings then Google assistant .

Aren't things like Nest and Simplisafe, Google based apps inherently more "native" to assistant? Can Bixby control those also?

I'm not sure i don't use them , my guess probably not. But anything else for the phone bixby would do a better job .

I'll give it a shot and see how it works out in the meantime, maybe assistant just doesn't have a command for activating existing alarms yet. I'll try the dual method in the meantime unless maybe someone has a workaround they came up with here. Appreciate the tip!

My alarms are named as well. Bixby will turn them on or off by their name or the time. Very useful.

Bixby as your Device Assistant
Google Assistant as you Web Assistant
That's how I look at it, there's of course plenty crossover functionality but spend a little time learning to use both and you will be very glad that you did I'm sure. :-)
