Since yesterday I have been getting a popup on my phone "Assistant on LG TV" and "Tap to setup this device". This popup just will not stop reappearing. It takes up about half the screen and is a constant annoyance. I have a Samsung S20 FE. I don't even own an LG TV which makes this even more confusing. Possibly a nearby neighbor in my apartment has one, but why would it be trying to connect to my phone? After extensive googling I cannot find any information on this. Does anyone have any ideas?

Please see attached photo.

Can look in the pull down notification smart things see maybe it's trying to sync with that LG device

In the other thread about this, it was mentioned that other brand devices are seeing this same popup (i.e., LG and OnePlus). That makes me wonder if it's a native Android feature like the Nearby Devices thing.

Good point , I'm thinking something like that also but smart things is something similarScreenshot_20210428-003202.jpg

Thanks for the suggestions. I turned off Nearby Device Scanning but that still didn't fix it. I do not have Samsung Connect or SmartThings installed either. Still randomly getting this LG TV popup.

Smart things comes pre-installed on the phone , how often does it pop up ? Do you see it in notification panel when u pull it down when it shows up?

It comes up sporadically about every few minutes of use. Sometimes after removing it will immediately pop up again. But sometimes I don't get it for 10 minutes of use. If I pull down my notifications when it shows up, I do not see any notification associated with it.

When I go into the Galaxy app store I can search for Smart things but it says it isn't installed. Am I looking at the right thing? Would it be helpful if I installed that though?

The Nice Catch app isn't registering the popup when I checked in the app in Toast History. And I'm having trouble with the Toast Source app and giving it the proper permissions in my phone. I was messing around and trying to press "Connect" in the popup to connect to my wifi, so that maybe it would see I'm on a different network. The issue actually stopped for about an hour and I thought that solved it. But unfortunately the popups are back again. Back to square one.

Here are some screenshots of what happens if I press "Connect" on the popup.

Yes it looks like I do have the Google Home app installed. Is there a setting in here I could try changing?

I looked in my Home app, and couldn't find an option to ignore requests from a device. You don't see that TV in your list of connected devices, right?

I was able to figure it out. The LG TV wasn't in my list of devices in the Home app, so I was looking for other ways to turn off notifications for nearby devices. Even tried deleting the Home App lol. Eventually I found the answer at the link and instructions below. Everything is resolved now. Thank you so much everyone for your help!

Turn notifications on or off
By default, you’ll see notifications for nearby devices that you can set up. If you turn off notifications, you can still see devices near you by opening your phone’s Settings app.

1. Open your phone's Settings app.
2. Tap Google And then Device connections And then Devices.
3. Turn Show notifications on or off.

Excellent! I was wondering if it was something like that, but couldn't quite find the right place to look.
