Anyone know why the the 302 and the Pixel 2 XL won't pair via Bluetooth? I've seen folks claim on reddit that they've paired other chromebooks with Pixels, but I've also seen a number of people on Google forums complain about not being able to pair chromebooks with either of the 2017 Pixels.

I've tried a ridiculous number of times to pair them. The 302's BT address never seems to show up in the list of available devices on the 2 XL; the 2 XL always shows up in the chromebook's list. Both devices display pairing toasts and identical pairing codes each time, and the 302 even claims it's connected when it's not. But the bottom line is that they will not actually connect & stay connected.

I've updated the 302 to version 62, and I've tried switching to the Beta channel, but that was a dead end, too. I'd try the Dev channel if I knew it was a sure thing, but I don't really want to powerwash the 302 yet again for no good reason.

The 2 XL is currently running the November security update, build OPD1.170816.025, on Project Fi.

I received my Asus C302CA today. It paired and connect to my Pixel 2 and my Huawei watch. I don't recall having an problem whatsoever.

Good for you. But 4 months and as many updates later to both devices, and my 2 XL and Asus Flip will still not pair and stay connected. Not through Bluetooth settings or through Smart Lock/Trusted Devices. In fact, I think Trusted Devices has simply been dead for the past few months on the 2 XL.

Off topic a little but I am looking at Chromebooks to replace my Google Nexus 9 tablet. My choices are Asus Flip or Samsung Chromebook plus or wait for the new Samsung Plus V2 coming out soon. I was going to get the Galaxy Tab3 like my husband has and had never really thought of a Chromebook. I have a main desktop I use too but for watching my Tivo recorded shows and playing games and doing Facebook I wanted a bigger screen and a keyboard. You guys still liking the Asus Flip and did you consider the Samsung before you bought and if you did why did you go with the Asus? I have a Samsung phone and Gear watch so I do like Samsung. Just not sure what's best

That's not a "little" off topic. You might get more responses if you start a new thread. FWIW, I got a Samsung and the keyboard was unworkable for me. I learned to touch type in 1956 and the non-standard, not even close to standard, keyboard was horrible. My nephew wanted it and since he's always typed with two fingers, he's happy. I got the Asus C302 and the keyboard is fine. The display is better on the Samsung but the Asus display is certainly adequate. I'm enjoying my Asus. There are plenty of reviews comparing the Asus to Samsung if you search.
