I tried to find this on the website but probably missed it. If I bring in my own phone to the AT&T store can they activate an account for me without having to sign a contract or are they going to make me sign a contract anyway?

They only time a contract is required with a device that you bring into AT&T is if you have a company discount on your account. Then the discounts require the 2 year contract. If you do not have a discount on your account, you will not be required to sign a contract with AT&T if you are using your own equipment.

+1 also keep in mind they still require a credit check or possible deposit.

You will be required to have a data plan. The minimum data plan is $20.00/mo.
That is, if they are aware that you are using a smartphone.

Thanks for the info guys. I am probably gonna bring over some sort of smartphone, having to sign a contract for my company discount will suck, can't then down 20% off the rate plan and data plan though :D
