AT&T Galaxy Nexus coming in February

I guess CES will be even more interesting now to see if we get anything official.

After reading engadget's battery performance with LTE, I am not so sure I want to use LTE. Seems to be insanely inefficient currently so if we don't get it with LTE, I don't think it will be a deal breaker for me.

What might be is knowing the next best thing is right around the corner (quad core, SIII, etc.). Going to be an interesting Q1 2012!

I concur about LTE. Would it be nice to have? Sure. Clearly not a deal breaker for me.

It will be interesting if this comes out February, with another rumor of the Galaxy S III coming out possibly march. Would you rather wait for the nexus or the S III?

Here is the deal with Galaxy S3. It may come internationally in march or april. A subsidized version for the US won't be sniffed until October. Also another thing to consider is touchwhiz will be on it.

I think late February or early March is almost too late for the GN on AT&T, unless it comes with LTE. There will be plenty of devices announced by that point at CES and MWC. The specs will feel dated and tired with quad-core devices on the horizon. Plain vanilla ICS will be a plus, but imagine being locked into mid-2010 technology until early 2013 on a 2-year contract. It should have launched at the same time on all carriers. Giving VZW an exclusive was a huge mistake.

Look I would normally agree with you about hardware but think about this. You may get yoru quad core 20ghz processor, 4GB RAM, etc but what if you won't see the next android revision until middle of 2013 or even beginning of 2014?

I realize that it is easy just to flash a ROM etc on it but do you want to continue playing this cat and mouse game of root, breaking root, re-root etc.

The main reason I left my iPhone 3GS for Nexus One was because I got sick of playing that game with Apple. Just to get simple customization or features that android all ready had.

As for LTE, I am not going to concern myself with that until they have a fully functional VoLTE option. Which probably won't be until mid 2013 and who is to say the areas I travel will even have LTE then.

The moral of the story is hardware matters but software is just as important.

My answer to this is that yes, yes I'd like to continue this game. I will pick up the strongest hardware devices that have any sort of a developer following, and pick those hands down over the outdated GN(In March) anyday.

I don't have a problem with that. I will just say, that I still believe software is just as important as the hardware.

Yeah and that's fair enough, I'm just sitting on an upgrade right now and dying to use it so if I can get a lte, 720p screen phone with a dev following, I'll probably take it.

Once ICS comes to other phones on AT&T the Nexus will be no big deal. We saw it with the Nexus S. Once they finally got it out on AT&T, they had to practically give it away. I had one for about two weeks and it had nothing over my OG Atrix or even captivate, so I returned it. The HD screen cannot be that big of a deal since the LG Nitro is not selling well, of course the battery life on the phone probably has something to do with it.

I would like to have the option now to have a 32 GB version but once my SR get ICS, I would not consider the Galaxy Nexus.

The skyrocket is a solid choice for you being in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. For me personally, when I saw that Galaxy S2 alpha build of ICS with touch whiz all over it looking the same. I thought my eyes were going to start spurting blood lol. Probably from the shock that it looked nothing like ICS.

i was first in line for the VZW GN since i'm an off-contract ATT subscriber. but i decided to be a bit patient, and man am i glad i did. the GN looks to be more hype than it's worth, especially with CES coming right up. i can only justify holding out for CES.

also worth noting, i'd expect the ATT GN will not be a 300 upgrade. 200 max? i think 300 would be impossible come Feb.

just to think i almost gave up my unlimited data for a VZW GN and limited data. lol.

galaxy nexus on att will be the next phone we purchase in our house, upgrade is up in july, surely by then right?

Was considering jumping ship for a Verizon GN but am glad I decided to be patient.

I'll be happy with the GN if it comes out in February or early March in either GSM+ or AT&T 3g radio form. For as exciting as all of the new octo core, 2160p, 2mm thick, hardware at CES will assuredly be, I just don't see battery tech being apace of it. We definitely see that with the LTE GN, I think it will continue to be a shackle for phone tech for the foreseeable future. I surmise that (one reason) Apple refrained from jumping on the LTE train with the 4S for such battery/usability concerns.

Visiting family in Dallas, went by a store and the rep said something about an announcement in two weeks. Anyone hear something similar?
