AT&T Galaxy Note 2 - FoxFi

Another reason I hate 4.3 is FoxFi isn't working. Anyone know a way around this?

Use the home button trick. After you check the Activate WiFi Hotspot box, the call 611 to activate alert box will come up. Hit the home button. Then open up PDFNet/FoxFi again and you'll see the hotspot is active.

Works fine for me. Try again. Hold down the home button.

Edit: I just double-checked, and it's no longer working completely with that trick for some reason -- FoxFi does say the hotspot is active when you reopen after holding down the home button, but now devices don't see the hotspot.

:( any other good apps like it that you know of?

Not off the top of my head. Poking around xda, I see people have FoxFi working on AT&T if they're rooted. Stock, no. What a pisser. I'm hopeful PDANet will come out with an update.

I emailed PDANet/FoxFi several days ago but I've heard nothing back. I should note that some people on Verizon have it working because of a VPN certificate PDANet asks to install on their phones. I don't see any such certificate on AT&T phones, though. Also, some people who have rooted still can't get it working apparently.

I can't even get Bluetooth tethering working on FoxFi now. Almost makes one never want to update -- I lost Flash when I upgraded my Nexus 10 to 4.4, and now I've lost the hotspot upgrading my Note 2 to 4.3.

Thanks for trying. I wonder if it's possible to downgrade back to 4.2? I wouldn't be so upset if I hadn't paid the 8 bucks for the full FoxFi version back in November.

It works for me, all I did was uninstalled PDANet+ and reinstalled it through playstore which is Foxfi app for Sprint/AT&T, and voila it works again,

I wasn't sure why that would make a difference -- it's the same version of FoxFi (2.13.1) that I already have installed, and the developer's description in the Play Store say don't bother installing if you already have it. But I tried anyway, uninstalling the non-Play Store version I already had and installing this one that says "Sprint/AT&T only."

Same result. The dialog box pops up telling you to contact AT&T to enable mobile hotspot.

Are you sure you're on AT&T with a Note 2 running 4.3?

Yes I am on 4.3 on AT&T, I only tried it because one poster in a different thread tried the same thing.

Edit: I just tried to activate hotspot again and get that nasty message but it was working yesterday oh well...

This is a real pisser. I was glad to get 4.3 so I could use the Galaxy Gear, but it's come at a steep price = no more hotspot and lousy battery life. I'm at an airport right now charging my Note 2 (it was pushing 50% after only six hours of use) and having to use the horrible $5 a day airport wifi service for my tab and laptop. >:(

Anyone get this working? It works flawlessly on my At&T Note 3 running 4.3, but will not work on my Note 2 for some reason. I'm rooted on both devices....any ideas??

Nevermind, went ahead and flashed the Notetorious Prime Rom, has tethering built right in, and works like a charm!

I've long since realized I'm going to have to flash something to get hotspot back -- probably Sky Note Air -- but I'm leery of the potential time sink also getting my Gear to work with it involves.

Whats the best way to flash your note 2... since the update to 4.3 my foxfi gets the error message an my 4glte "the fastest network" is running at tbe old edge network speed! Lost almost everythng I loved about the note 2!

I've got hotspot back by giving up my grandfathered-in unlimited data for the 10GB Mobile Share Value plan. I've only hit 5GB a month once -- my wife probably never goes above 300 MB a month -- and it turns out I'm saving $50 a month over the old plan and getting unlimited talk minutes (I'd had 2100 or something along those lines). And, more to the point, hotspot is thrown in for free. I could have done this three months ago, but I just couldn't believe AT&T would offer such a good deal.
