AT&T Note 8 Rant

Not going to lie. I’m pretty frustrated right now. I wanted to take advantage of the former Note 7 owner promo Samsung is running but can’t becaue you have to trade in a phone out right. Of cours AT&T won’t do any kind of match. Ok so be it So I go for the Best Buy deal that is $100 off and even though I’m upgrade eligible and the B.B. system shows I’m eligible it won’t go through. They call AT&T and can’t get an answer. I call AT&T today and they tell me that because of the weirdness of my returns/exchanges on this line (which is because of the double note 7 recall) they have locked my line to in store upgrades only and they won’t match the B.B. offer. WTF!

If I didn’t have 5 lines at AT&T I would be moving to T-Mobile week reception be damed.

That is messed up. AT&T has the worst Note 8 deal out of all carriers right now. sucks. wait until September 1st. The guy at the store told me the will have new promotions rolling out. I'm holding off on ordering until the 1st week of September to see what comes up.

Ouch! And this is how people are STILL dealing with the N7 fiasco. I agree, AT&T seems to be the least willing to deal. I'm with them too. Hopefully something shakes out in Sept for you.

Just buy an eligible phone in good condition, trade it in for the $425, get the Note then sell whatever device you have on Next and pay if off.

I've never heard of the in store only upgrade. You have any fraud activity?

I hear a lot of people are putting up <$100 for an iphone to trade into Samsung to keep their current device

I upgraded without any hiccups via their JUMP program. I'm an long time iPhone user and although still love the iPad Pro, Macbook Air and iMac - the Note S has been on my radar since the 5. I wanted to upgrade (iPhone 6s Plus) already back when the Note 7 came out (and even tried to still get one regardless of what was going on with a few of them) - so when the Note 8 was announced I acted right away to get my hands on one. Can't wait!

Welcome aboard - you'll love it! I had a Note 4 and 5 with Verizon, a Note 5 and 2 Note 7s (Original and Replacement) with AT&T that obviously both had to go back, and loved them all. Just waiting for my local store to get the Note 8s in stock and I'm headed there to get one (running an S7 Active in the interim)!

So went in store today like I was told I had to do. Waited over an hour in the line. The poor guy in store tried his hardest but after over an hour on the phone with 4 different cooperat phone support people they still couldn’t get it to work. So I sad F’ it did the Samsung former Note 7 upgrade. Got $425 off the phone then I’ll sell this iPhone on eBay use the mine from that to pay it off and buy a cheep phone for the trade in to Samsung.

I would have if it was possible. I pay for 6 peoples phone lines. All of them but my wife and I couldn’t care less about having a new phone as long as theirs work so they wouldn’t be willing to get new ones to work on another network. Two of them don’t even live in the same town as me and another doesn’t live in my home. The logistics of the whole thing alone would be a nightmare.
