AT&T Users, Unlocked Samsung Feedback?

I have always owned AT&T phones, and I can't recall all the differences, but I'm leaning towards going unlocked this year.

For anyone on an unlocked newish Samsung currently, do you lose any significant features?

I'm specifically wanting to know if the stock Samsung messages app works as expected with RCS, assuming AT&T advanced messaging may be out of the picture?

Thanks!

I have a Note 20U unlocked on tmobile. Stock samsung messages worked for a hot min but stopped after a update last year so I've been using Google messages which has worked great and even works with some people using samsung phones but I'm not 100% on what carrier they are on. 100% works with pixel phones. Out side of the rcs no issues unlocked everything works

I use Unlocked on AT&T and they used to really restrict their services but they do allow practically everything now on Samsung Unlocked models. I think the only thing they don't support is Advanced messaging but I use Google Messages now for that. They actually have a compatibility chart on their website on what services are supported on what model unlocked device. S22 doesn't look too be in there yet tho.

Super helpful, thanks! I feel fine with no video calling or advanced messaging, and I'mhappy to see wifi calling is likely to be supported.

I'll start playing with Google messages here on my N20U, it's been a while. I like the stock app for convenience and how it integrates so well visually as I fuss with things, but maybe I just need to accept using something else.

Figures I'd realize this after placing an order for the unlocked variant, but am I seeing correctly that 5G isn't supported for a lot of the major newer Samsung phones?

I have the Note 20 Ultra 5G and on that list, it appears had I bought it unlocked I wouldn't get 5G.

That'll be a likely deal breaker for me. I suppose I'll ask AT&T, not that I suspect they'd say anything that'd reassure me about buying unlocked.

Yeah but all their latest models from last year are listed as supported so I don't see why they wouldn't support this year's models.

I have an unlocked Note 20 Ultra 5G and it works fine on At&t. It gets 5g on At&t no problem.
Good to know. I didn't think I'd care initially, but when I changed my plan and went from the bogus "5G LTE" to proper 5G, I noticed better speeds and better reception at home.

Thanks, sometimes discerning those minor model name differences is tricky when you haven't been paying close attention. I can't get through to a real person on AT&T chat today so far. I was surprised to realize how many newer phones on that chart, some even with 5G noted in the model name, don't show 5G support.

I have a S21 Ultra Unlocked on AT&T and I even get 5G out in the country, never had a problem with any unlocked Samsung phones on AT&T.

Yea same here. On AT&T with a unlocked S21U out in the country and get 5G. Same sim card carried over all the way from at least my S10, possibly my S7 and everything.
