If you get the new unlimited data plan in conjunction with either Direct TV or U- Verse, tethering / hot spot feature isn't allowed and will not work
It does work, though. For me at least. I got an iPad Air 2 for $99 on contract with AT&T with unlimited data for $40/month back in January, and the hotspot has been enabled since day one. I'm actually using it right now to type this on my MacBook with my iPad's hotspot.
I know it's not supposed to work, but it does. My entire family is also on this plan with iPhones, and none of them have hotspot. I'm the only one with an iPad on this plan and the hotspot isn't disabled. Not jailbroken or anything. I made this thread to find out if others are getting the same thing or if somehow this is just me.
How have you enjoyed your new phone plans with AT&T?
It's a glitch. If you turn it off and back on, and/or take out sim and put it back in, it won't work. So just avoid those things![]()
I have AT&T unlimited with a Ipad Mini 4 and the hotspot feature works also and I use it quite a bit, I also have moved the sim card and and have powered it off and on and it doesn't disactivate it. Im planning to even cancel my cable internet. Ive been getting 30mbps down and 20mbps up on it. I do not pay for hotspot service.
Those overages can be killers!!!!
Yeah. I have never been on a limited plan yet to experience them but I can just imagine how much it would suck .. You use your phone and are punished for it.
I'm not sure how I would manage if I had to switch to a limited data plan. I've already used 25GB on Verizon with 21 days remaining and almost 8GB on AT&T with 19 days remaining. I do tether a lot, but only to do the same things on other devices as I could on my cellular device. For instance, I'll plug in my cellular iPad Air 2 to charge it, and connect my iPad mini 2 to it and use that iPad instead. I also leave my Verizon phone plugged in whenever I'm home so it stays topped up whenever I go out, so I might turn the hotspot on and connect my laptop to it and either browse the web or stream videos online. I'm not downloading torrents or running a server off of my phone's Internet.
