Maybe I'll have better luck on this forum. Anyone have AT&T's new unlimited data plan with a line for an iPad with unlimited data or even an AT&T branded Android tablet? Does the hotspot work for you?

I am not but my guess would be hotspot wouldn't work -- but you can pay the access fee or whatever it is for the iPad to get unlimited data on that.

If you get the new unlimited data plan in conjunction with either Direct TV or U- Verse, tethering / hot spot feature isn't allowed and will not work

I have the orginal unlimited data plan from AT&T that says no hotspot also. I can't create a hotspot on a non modded AT&T Android phone. I can create the hotspot if I root the phone install some apps and uninstall the tether provession apk. I rooted my AT&T Galaxy S5 on 4.4.4 and have been using hotspot as a backup internet for laptop and tablet for months without a peep from AT&T. You can also use unlocked T-Mobile/MetroPCS phones or certain Nexus phones without root and create a hotspot. I have home internet so I am not abusing the network.

With my unlim data plan with Verizon, hotspot use is not provisioned unless you have the $30 hot spot feature on your account, which allows you to connect 10 and in some cases 15 devices using your unlim data....

Since we have both AT&T wireless and Direct TV, all four lines on unlimited data, talk and text but no hotspot. Paying less per month and no data overage fees.

It does work, though. For me at least. I got an iPad Air 2 for $99 on contract with AT&T with unlimited data for $40/month back in January, and the hotspot has been enabled since day one. I'm actually using it right now to type this on my MacBook with my iPad's hotspot.

I know it's not supposed to work, but it does. My entire family is also on this plan with iPhones, and none of them have hotspot. I'm the only one with an iPad on this plan and the hotspot isn't disabled. Not jailbroken or anything. I made this thread to find out if others are getting the same thing or if somehow this is just me.

It's a glitch. If you turn it off and back on, and/or take out sim and put it back in, it won't work. So just avoid those things ;)

How have you enjoyed your new phone plans with AT&T?

We are in the midst of the first month of our plan. It is great not getting overage emails. The last month on our former plan, we had a $70 overage charge.

I've rebooted and taken the SIM out multiple times. It's still there. I even put my dad's SIM in my iPad a few days ago. We're on the same plan, but he has it for a phone while I have it for a tablet. The hotspot disappeared on my iPad with his SIM card, but reappeared once I put mine back in.

I have AT&T unlimited with a Ipad Mini 4 and the hotspot feature works also and I use it quite a bit, I also have moved the sim card and and have powered it off and on and it doesn't disactivate it. Im planning to even cancel my cable internet. Ive been getting 30mbps down and 20mbps up on it. I do not pay for hotspot service.

Awesome! This is what I've been waiting months to know.

I wish I had better AT&T service at my apartment. Also wish I could use my SIM card in a phone.

Those overages can be killers!!!!

Yeah. I have never been on a limited plan yet to experience them but I can just imagine how much it would suck .. You use your phone and are punished for it.

I'm not sure how I would manage if I had to switch to a limited data plan. I've already used 25GB on Verizon with 21 days remaining and almost 8GB on AT&T with 19 days remaining. I do tether a lot, but only to do the same things on other devices as I could on my cellular device. For instance, I'll plug in my cellular iPad Air 2 to charge it, and connect my iPad mini 2 to it and use that iPad instead. I also leave my Verizon phone plugged in whenever I'm home so it stays topped up whenever I go out, so I might turn the hotspot on and connect my laptop to it and either browse the web or stream videos online. I'm not downloading torrents or running a server off of my phone's Internet.

Understandable. I used to use 100+ GB a month easily without tether. I was just watching tons of stuff off the xfinity app and what not. I use around 30-50 GB a month now or so .. The past month was only 27ish GB lol.

That's light for you lol....I remember back in the early stages of Verizon unlim data threads, you were pulling down some impressive numbers lol
