So now that I have 2.2 running. Ive noticed that ATK is not working as well as it did when I was running 2.1 . Anyone else notice this??? It seems that once I kill tasks, they start up again immediatly afterwards.

Im wondering several things....
1. Is it even nessessary to use ATK (advance Task killer) with Froyo?
2. Will there be some updates to ATK that will solve this problem?
3. Should I just stop using ATK all together now that I have 2.2?

What are everyones thoughts and suggestions?

I uninstalled ATK and then my Incredible proceeded to run slow and it lagged in just typing. Then I turned it off, reinstalled ATK and it's fast and not lagging anywhere. So what's the deal? I have Froyo now and supposedly we don't need it, but it seems I do at least...

I haven't used ATK since 2.0 and have around 50 apps downloaded from the market and I never have had an problems with low memory or my battery drain faster then normal. Having the same apps on my Storm 1 would have caused it to burst into flames ;)

LOL!!! Oh the BlackBerry days! I do not miss them!

The pro version of ATK supports Froyo. I use it to kill the Camera/Barcode an a few other tasks, only when I manually want them killed. I moved the bloatware so that it doesn't start.

Phone is plenty fast, no FC's works great and my Battery is lasting longer than before 2.2

how do you "move" bloatware (and where to?) so it doesnt open itself?

Assuming you have root...

I used root explorer to create a new dir under /system called oldapps

Then I moved the apps I didn't want from /system/apps to the oldapps dir.

I use move so that I can put them back if there is a problem or I want to upgrade in the future that may require them to be there.

There are thread that discuss identifying what files etc, but it is not that complicated.

I would do them one at a time to make sure you are not causing a problem.

When I remove ATK, I notice that my battery drains really fast. However, I also noticed that Auto Kill setting of killing when the screen shuts off doesn't work. So I tried auto-kill every 30 minutes and that seems to work. Do I still get random apps opening up? Yes. But does ATK kill them after 30 min? Yes, well, most of them. Has my battery life improved? Yes.

Instead of counting on ATK to save your battery, find the app causing it and replace it with something better than doesn't cause battery drain. ATK is a bandaid app nothing more nothing less.
