This forum makes me feel like android users are worse than apple zealots.

I will help you out and answer some simple question.

1. No the atrix will not change your life.
2. No its not perfect.
3. Yes it desperately needed a software update. But remember how many updates ios has gone through before you complain.
4. Yes motorblur sucks so change your launcher. The power of android is choice.
5. Yes its the best device out in terms of hardware specs.
6. No it doesn't look nicer than an iphone. Apple puts out 1 design where as motorola probably has 30 handsets out right now. Apple clearly has dedicated time to create one uniquely good looking device.
7. No the screen isn't bad. While the iphone 4 is slightly better it will blow away most android phones in terms of resolution.
8. Yes ios has better Apps.
9. No the camera isn't great but I rarely ever use them.
10. Yes I will be keeping mines. I came from an iphone 4 and with any transition there's a slight confusion the 1st couple of days. It's like getting a new girlfriend you always compare her to the last. Sometimes it takes a month to realize your better off. At the end of the day out of the box the atrix has impressed me. It has set a new standard on what a smartphone should be capable of but not without fault.

Update: What it does do better than the iphone is make calls. Haven't dropped a call yet.

LOL well put, sir.

100% agree. I just think that most of the people that post lately are those that just got an android device, or hyped it up too much that they end up falling really really hard after the honeymoon phase.

Everyone else that enjoys the Atrix are too busy having fun with the phone to post frequently :p

I especially love the posts that say "I'm about to return the Atrix stop me". I'm like you coming from a iPhone 4 and it does take some getting use to Android but so far I'm really enjoying the change.

Won't change your life... yet ;p

First time user here, I like it a lot. And I am anti-Apple anyways, so an iPhone was never a choice.

I agree with most of what you said. I do disagree about the camera. Most of what you stated were facts, but interjected your opinion WRT the camera. You may not use it much, but others of us here do. I'm disappointed with it, but not the phone because of it.

I have dropped a number of calls, which I never did with my BlackBerry 9700. This may be because the radio doesn't appear to be as good as the one in the BlackBerry. My signal strength is pathetic. This appears to be with both mobile telephone/data as well as WiFi.

My $.02.

good post, i came from iphone as well

sure this phone has it's quirks, you'll never find a device that doesn't. (not even apple, how long did we have to wait for "multi-tasking")
the ones that i've come across so far can be fixed with software updates so it definitely is not anything major.

11. don't annoy others about it: you had the good sense to buy it, but someone else wrote the apps, and you did not invent it. ;)

:D

Umm, the Atrix changed my life. But that was because I came from an LG Shine. Having access to the internet at all times is definitely life changing. I agree with everything else.

Why I love my Atrix:

#1) I didn't enjoy the stock browser so I changed it. Couldn't do that with my BB. Sure, I could add other browsers, but not make it default.
#2) Winamp is my music player! Reminds me of high school.
#3) The features and possibilities of the phone and operating system have made me want to start coding for fun (not just work) again.
#4) Watching CSI @ the Gym on cbs.com is awesome!
#5) The camera is a MILLION times better than any camera I had on blackberry!
#6) HD Video recording is amazing. Blackberry has no comparison.

This is my first Android phone and I am enjoying it very much w/o buying into the hype. Now back to playing with my new phone and visiting the Tegra Zone. :D

I said it isn't great. How's that opinion. I also acknowledge that I don't use them

I'm actually pretty happy with everything about the phone (except the battery life...barely gets to 13 hours with what I would say average to less than average use with the lowest brightness and no wifi)...except the network, which is causing me to think about returning it.

The HPSA+ network here in Portland, OR is atrocious. I think it's legitimately slower than the 3G speeds here. There's times where I can't even browse a site and it'll kick back a "Page Not Found" error. Also, using Seesmic, loading Facebook and Twitter updates is annoyingly slow. Again, my old Blackberry Bold 9000 loaded these things up much faster.

My main gripe is, why even have this fake "4G" phone if the network behind is slower than what I used to have.

Before I do return it, does anyone know if I'm able to change the network from HSPA+ to regular 3G? I see it in the settings > mobile networks, but they're greyed out so I can't select it. If I were to root the phone, could I change it to 3G?

First of all, HSPA+ is Enhanced 3G (think 3.5G), so no you cant change from HSPA+ to regular 3G since it's pretty much regular 3G, difference being the theoretical speed.

Next, it is a known issue that ATT is artificially capping speed on all 3G and !4G(<---see what I did there) phones except the iPhone with some BS about having every modem handshake as 3GPP Rev. 5, instead of Rev. 6 or 7.

Finally, ATT is your main issue, return their service instead, but wouldn't it be more fun to root and tether till your the living nightmare of ATT?.
