I am getting an Ipad 2 and want to occasionally use mobile hotspot feature on my Atrix with the Ipad (getting the $45 mobile hotspot plan) Can anybody give me an idea of how long does the battery on the Atrix typically last with hotspot enabled. and if there are any difficulties using it with the IPad.
thanks!

You can get around a hour of continuous usage on a full battery. I normally try to plug mine in while using it...

I seem to get quite a bit longer than that... I streamed NFL Sunday Ticket video on my iPad yesterday for two hours and only killed 50% of my Atrix battery. This was while traveling, having HSPA+ most of the time.

I often use it as a primary source of internet throughout the day and can get 4+ hours of casual usage. I plug in as often as possible, but it's not always an option.

yes you are absolutely correct. I use it occasionally with my ipad for 3 day now and it doesnt seem to have any significant effect on battery. btw. i use open garden tethering app and my existing 2gb plan.. i dont need to pay extra $20 for tether plan because i rarely go over 1 gb on my phone so im a little worried if at&t eventually figure out i am tethering somehow.... but as long as i dont stream lots of data i should be OK right?

I would say the worst that could happen is they would block the app or ask you to stop.

I typically use every bit of my 4gb per month. If you ever are concerned about your data usage, check out the 3G Watchdog app. It tracks data usage, alerts you when you are close to quota, and provides an estimate on your monthly usage based on your daily usage. Pretty handy.
