Atrix on Bell whats your take?

This thread is for the Canadians geeks obviously but any comment from non Canadian resident are accepted

Like most of everyone here I was wowed by this phone when it hit CES but I was even more wowed when I heard it was actually coming to Canada around the same time it is to be released in the States which really surprises me but on Bell?

I'm really not a fan of Bell so I'm a bit disappointed about this and I was wondering how many people would ditch their other carrier to switch to Bell to get this phone and how many will wait for an unlocked version and buy it full retail online to stay with their current provider

(For the American folks, I'm guessing its about the same issue concerning the Atrix being sold on AT&T)

So whats your take?

Cant comment on bell or rogers, seeing as I live in the Chicago area, but my take on your last statement is this: The majority of people that have problems with AT&T's network are iPhone users. Do I have stats to back it up? No, just personal experience. I've used just about everything on ATT, from dumbphones, to Palm, WM, Blackberry, and yes, iPhone. The only phone that ever gave me dropped calls or signal problems was the iPhone. Now that's not to say that no one with a BB ever dropped a call; it happens. I think it just so happens that the people in the most heavily affected areas (cali and ny) happen to be the most vocal. But that's just my $.02; like I said, I've got no data or stats to back it up.
EDIT: And I'm not saying ATT is perfect; I'm sure they could do a lot more to beef up their network in the previously mentioned affected areas.

As for me, I've had nothing but good with ATT; great customer service, call centers located here in the states with CS reps that you can understand; never had billing problems (knock on plastic) and since I have the unlimited data plan grandfathered, I'm more than happy to stick with ATT (since 98% of my co-workers are on ATT, not to mention my boss; makes it easier and cheaper). I've got no qualms about the Atrix being on ATT.

Right now I have the iPhone 3G on Rogers. I've only ever been with Rogers so I don't have any problems with Bell and I haven't really heard of any from people I know.

I am really looking forward to the Atrix coming out in Canada. My iPhone 3G is by far the worst phone I've ever had. It is the worst idea to get an iPhone, especially if you're planning to keep it for more than 2 years. Once the next models come out, Apple basically stops supporting their older phones. I promised myself my next phone would be an Android phone and I am determined to make that phone the Atrix.

I will definitely be in contact with Bell to see what kind of plan I can get. It all depends on how good a plan they can offer, data rates are ridiculous in Canada. I feel like I'll have less bargaining power with Bell than I would with Rogers if I threaten to leave but Rogers hasn't promised any amazing Android phones yet.

As of now, I am planning to be with Bell and holding an Atrix in my hand in March.

I learned quite a while ago that in the end it's much better to suck it up and pay for a phone while sticking with the carrier that you're happy with. Since Bell's WCDMA network is new and weak I'm hoping that Motorola has put in a strong radio with a good antenna. So far the Galaxy S and the Desire Z have had fair to poor reception in my travel areas.

Can't really comment on Bell. I've been with ATT for about 10 years through various name changes. I only got into smart phones in the past 2 years. I have no big complaints against ATT. But only a couple of months ago I was considering trying another carrier for various reasons: maybe better rates for voice and data and maybe tethering, phone locking policy, ATT bloatware on phones. In the end, I decided to stick with ATT.

The primary function of my phone is still to make and receive calls. In my area and the areas where I go ATT reception tends to be the best out of all the carriers. I looked at independent websites that measured signal strength of the major carriers in many areas, and there's the fact that I never have dropped calls. Rates might be a little higher, but I'll take that for reliability. Other things like locked phones, bloatware and tethering seem to have work arounds if necessary.

That said, if the Atrix were being sold on another network, I probably wouldn't switch for it. Before I heard about the Atrix, I was considering getting the Nexus S. But I didn't like the limited functionality on ATT and I wasn't willing to switch to another carrier.
