On my iPhone 5, I've speed tested LTE from 13-20mbps down, and HSPA+ is usually around 8. My GNex capped out around 3, so with the 4 you should see an increase in performance. LTE is nice to have, but it drains the battery fast, and once the novelty wears off about the speeds, it isn't that special IMO.
Since you are on WiFi a large amount of time, I don't think LTE is an absolute necessity for you. HSPA+ is enough to stream HD video, so unless you need websites to load a second or two faster there isn't a whole lot of up sides to the LTE. On Verizon it's probably different since their normal 3G speeds are more in the 1 meg down range instead of 3-5 on AT&T.
to be honost I have an s3 on ATT and lte drains battery sooooo much!
I love the speeds but the battery drain is freaken horrible. id rather use h+ skmewhat..
id prefrr they have LTE tho whrre theres a switch to turn it on or off... if I want the faster network
