ATT stikes back at Unlimited users!

Well you have clearly not done much research and if you feel the service you are receiving from AT&T is acceptable for the money then more power to you because I would have left long ago with that treatment no matter if its in the agreement. I am sorry but if 2-3gb is where they break their backs and freak then that is a sub par network and yet people scream how much better GSM is for whatever reason. You would pay the same amount as them and maybe even less for Verizon 4G that gets up 3x faster than the 4g you are being "offered". MY step mom switched from AT&T and had the same exact features with Verizon with Mobile to Mobile added and saves $9 a month compared to AT&T so it is cheaper at times or the same and in this case had a major feature added. AT&T even decided to add LTE and said to heck with you HSPA+ fools who fell for us telling you it was 4G and way better than the Verizon LTE crap! Also I have mobile to mobile on my account right now (Free calls to all cell phones on any network which Verizon introduced before AT&T did) so you clearly have done no research to see if the options are better elsewhere, which in this case they clearly are.

When I contacted Verizon sales they said they do not offer any mobile to ANY mobile network calling like AT&T and Sprint do. They do offer mobile to mobile calling to Verizon customers ONLY.

Not to mention I would get no student discount with Verizon. I also love HSPA+ so I'll take the reduced speeds instead of paying overages.

If they throttle people for less than 3GB and you use less than that you would have no overages and if you had Verizon you would be getting 4gb for that price. I am not sure about why they lied to you but they offer mobile to mobile freely and even have plans dedicated to that which also include unlimited texting. I can see how the student discount would be a factor however I have yet to see any school, including mine, that offers an AT&T discount and not one on Verizon. Other than the discount there is really no reason why anyone should spend the money on service like especially when there are good alternatives that cost the same or less (obviously without discount included). I am just saying that if you talking only about 10 dollars more the extra data and speeds with no throttling and crappy service is well worth it.

Am I missing something with Verizon's pricing?

450 Minutes - $39.99 (mobile to mobile, Verizon only)
Unlimited Text - $20
Data - 4GB promo -$30

$89.99/mo

AT&T

450 Minutes w/ Rollover - $39.99 (mobile to any mobile)
Unlimited Text - $20
Unlimited Data - $30

Student discount - $10

$79.99/mo

Except that with ATT you cant enjoy their network service without dropped calls or super slow speeds.
I swear not go back to ATT again, not before they completely upgraded their hardware

No but if you were a current customer of Verizon you would have unlimited data so like I said $10 more is worth the much better network experience. Also you would have mobile to mobile because its free just like on AT&T. You cant compare being a current AT&T customer with unlimited data and a new Verizon customer with 4gb its apples to oranges. When you compare both for new customers even then your getting another 1 gb for that ten dollars but if the discount is the same which is almost always the case, then your getting a better deal no questions asked and if your comparing current customers unlimited data on Verizon is still better deal than throttled unlimited on AT&T. If I have to pay $10 more to get no throttling then I will gladly do so while getting much faster speeds with a much larger coverage area that increases monthly.

What? Compared to AT&T, they're rolling out LTE very fast. They've still got the largest LTE network in the world so nobody is looking at it like that.

From everything that I've heard, AT&T is being delayed because they simply do not have the bandwidth. That is part of the reason they wanted to take over T-Mobile. They wanted their bandwidth.

They get the bandwidth anyway with the roaming agreement that happened when the deal fell through IIRC.

I do love having unlimited data and convinced my parents to hop on smartphones before Verizon gave it up. They're thanking me now, that's for sure.

4g LTE

I've never had issues with At&T in Atlanta, no dropped calls and the 3G was pretty fast compared to Verizon's 3G. Gsm carriers work pretty good in my city and in some places better than LTE as far as speed. Having said that, Verizon's voice calls are better than any I can remember and LTE is no joke when I can fully get it.

I have had a very good network experience with AT&T. Actually I just recently found out that Verizon doesn't have as good as coverage where I live. The AT&T tower is closer. One thing that seems to be misunderstood here is the fact that I am talking about ANY MOBILE to MOBILE CALLING. Verizon DOES NOT offer that. Only Sprint & AT&T do. This allows me (an AT&T customer) to call my friend on T-Mobile and have unlimited calling while not counting against my 450 minutes. On Verizon, my 450 would be deducted unless she had Verizon.

AT'T network is just as good as Verizon's out here if not better. With AT&T's LTE I can easily transition to HSPA+ whereas on Verizon its LTE or EVDO. Ouch. Overall, I'm happy with AT&T. I just wanted Verizon for the LTE and unlimited data loophole and Nexus of course. Now, that I have the GSM Nexus I have no desire to switch. I'll hold onto my AT&T unlimited plan for as long as I can. I don't even need that much, so I don't think I'll be in the top 5% next month.

There is no superior carrier. All that matters is what carrier has the best coverage where you live, work, and play. Though in the end - I'd rather be on a GSM carrier.

Yeah Im with you... They do NOT offer mobile to mobile to any cell phone.. Only free mins when calling a verizon customer... If they had that id change my plan in a heartbeat... Other then that the network is better then At&t... I dont drop calls and their lte is everywhere.. Only advantage At&t has to me is if you drop to hspa+ where lte is not available the speeds are waaay better. Cant argue with you on that.

In my opinion, in the Grand scheme of things, there really isn't that much difference between VZW and AT & T. For me I stick with VZW, because I think they have a better selection of Android phones. Additionally their customer service is still in the US. Going with the strongest carrier in your area is generally a good way to go.

I was wondering how that works. Are AT&T phones made in such a way that they only need one sim card that will work with both LTE and HSPA+ ? If so that's pretty awesome.

What part of me saying they offer free MOBILE TO ANY MOBILE do yall not understand!!! I have this on my account! I can call ANY cell phone on ANY carrier in the country without using a single minute. This includes AT&T, Sprint, T-mobile, US Cellular, Metro PCS and ANY other carrier in existence in the country just like you can with AT&T. I have had this feature for almost two years on my account before AT&T even offered it. I purposefully had it added because my dad and some family members are on AT&T because they have it free through work and I am on a family share with 700 minutes and we kept getting right at that due to the cell calls so Verizon happily added the feature free fro me and we now use about 70 minutes a month combined.

FYI.

If you have AT&T with unlimited family text.

And if you use a non AT&T branded phone. AT&T system does not recognize the device.

So unlocked GSM Galaxy nexus users can use the $10 unlimited data plan (no throttling at all).

How's that for striking back at AT&T!

That's the beauty of gsm devices. You can use an unbranded or non AT&T device and still sign up for $10 dumbphone data plan and save $$$.

While LTE is great (I have the Verizon Galaxy nexus) and AT&T iPhone 4S. In real day to day browsing. You won't notice much between 20mbs LTE going to websites like espn msnbc CNN etc.

I think it's because the free mobile to any mobile is only available in certain markets, mostly in the south (see the fine print at the bottom of https://forums.androidcentral.com/e?link=https://store.verizonwireless.com/store/ctx&token=vPFBm-di). So for most of us, we can't get that plan, though I would love to have it...

I would disagree. Most of the time i get over 20Mbs speeds both ways and pages load instantly. I stopped using wifi at home because my cable speeds are slower
