Interesting that this seems to have changed for the Pixel 3, given AT&T's previous practice to not enable this for non-AT&T phones.

Yep people here and Reddit have been reporting WiFi calling and such on the Pixel 3. Maybe AT&T is trying to not be such an ... well .. you know

They just realize they're losing out on potential customers/money due to crippling Pixel on their network.

Wow! Thanks for the tip. WiFi calling on AT&T was one thing that I was sorely missing on this phone. I've definitely had HD calling on AT&T for a while though. The pixel 2XL I trade it in had it.

Thats funny I have not got around to put my At&t SIM in...I have been testing T-Mo with a prepaid SIM and thought "Oh look T-Mo enables WiFi calling" I have never had any use it for it...but now it is there and I am about to dump At&t... It figures
