Attachements and downloading them

Since Kit-Kat, when I get photos from friends in text messages, I can long tap the individual photo and it downloads. But when they send me multiple attached photos in one message, it "plays" like a screen saver. How do I download that/those photos? When I long tap, nothing happens.

This is the standard messaging app.

Are you saying that long-pressing does't work in both the main Messaging screen (where you see the whole conversation thread) as well as the slideshow view?

Yeah, my phone will do a single photo but when it was more than 1, it would do nothing. I found that if I long pressed in the message area of the text message, it would ask to download/save them. I figured it out, but it didn't seem to work till i did it off the side of the photos. Kinda hard to describe, but I got it now. Thanks!
