I figure the answer is "NO", but it does bear asking. I think it's an interesting idea.
It would be cool to be able to attach the microUSB cable to my phone and on the other end of the cable plug in a USB thumb drive (I already have the female-female coupler from another project). I have tried it to no avail, and was wondering if there was a reason this would not work either due to voltage issues powering the USB, or if Android 2.1 (or 2.2) would not support an external storage device?
