Atten Pre to Android converts Android Apps Vs Pre Stock Apps

I am curious how Stock Pre apps compare to some the Android Stock Apps.

Podcast catcher:

Android equivilent?

Media Player:
Pre stock media player was plenty functional for me Music Remix just improved on the stock one
Android Stock media player how does it compare?

Im app:
Pre: messaging app had a nice Ui and with Preware patches made it very cool
Android: How is the UI of stock message app? is there a suggested alternate?

Calendar:
Pre: calendar Look was awesome UI was fairly good
Android: Is Stock Calendar good enough or what woudl be an alternate?
E-mail:
Pre: the e-mail integration with Google was awesome. The look & UI was also simple vibrant and easy to use.
Android: is stock e-mail app ok UI? or is there a better alternate?

Google sync.
This is a Big one for me.
With the Pre i used my Google Id for all my calendar , contacts messneger 7 E-mails. Does Android offer this option out of the box?

For example when I add a contact on the Android does it automatically save it to me google account or does it offer me a choice?

can I set my google accoutn as default android profile?

Having a Mac, I've never used HTC Sync. Google does everything OTA. You won't even have to connect your pre to it to transfer contacts if they are all stored in your google profile.
