I am going to try and create a FAQ on rooting that answers almost any questions that are either commonly asked and/or ones that pros want to ask. If you have a question (whether it be about rooting/roms/overclocking/etc) ask it in here and I will do my best to try to answer it in the faq thread that I will create. Sooooooo ask away

Haha that's a great question. I have work at 7 am, so I wake up at 430. Drink my coffee and try to wake up and keep my eyes open haha. Wash up get dressed and then leave at 6 for work. It takes about 30-40 minutes to drive depending on traffic.

I'm 23 and only get about 4 hours of sleep a night, is that bad? Haha. 2 weeks ago I got a full 8 hours of sleep and it felt like I overslept.

What's your excuse for being up this early haha

with all the documentation and videos out there, the only question i had was how to activate the phone. Stupid question i know, but i had never done it before. Something as simple as 1 liner to tap the android and follow the on screen instructions would have made me a little more comfortable. prior to rooting.

Yes, and more than that, the phone pops up with an "Activate me" sort of dialog if you ever update your baseband or something...

If it doesn't happen, it's *228 option 1.

yes it does, but prior to rooting it, i didn't know that. Everything i had seen just said to activate it, but not how and since i got my phone from a Verizon store and they activated it before they handed it to me i had never seen that screen before. I normally like to know what i'm getting into before i start, but I had plenty of time on my hands (watching the 24hrs of Le Mans)and just decided to deal with it when i got there. Turned out to be idiot proof, but it would have been nice to know that going in.

@lancer ah, yes. There is that whole VZW rep doing it thing. I don't let them, lol. When I bought mine I told the guy to "give me the box and work on [your] paperwork."

I want to know if I want to go from stock 2.1update1 to 2.2 overclocked at 800-1000mhz. I know i need to root and custom rom, but does the kernal come in the rom or is that a different download?
