Audio pauses or dropouts when playing podcasts or music?

Anyone else notice short pauses or gaps in sound when playing back any sort of sound file? I'm using Bluetooth headsets of various types like jaybirds, Jabra solemate or jawbone jambox.

I'm using PocketCasts and the media is on the phone for that. Also using doubletwist and it's media is on SD.

Took me a long time to notice it because some podcasts aren't the greatest quality. Thing is if I rewind and replay that section it usually plays fine meaning the phone did something wrong.

I believe I may be experiencing something similar, playing a series of mp3 files via Bluetooth to my car stereo. There's an audible static click sound when it pauses and is intermittent. I figured it was the file quality as well. I'm going to move the files to the internal SD and see if it continues.

My thinking is something is going on in the background that locks the whole phone up for split seconds. It would explain some of the weird stuttering I get once and a while in the UI. been discussed on the Android Central podcast as having some software weirdness In that area too.

I had that experience on every phone I've had when on Bluetooth. Occasionally even on wired headsets (Samsung Note 3, Note 4, and S5/and S6). I don't get it as much on the LG G4, but it still happens. My guess is that a phone is doing a lot in the background (unlike a dedicated mp3 player) and the activity occasionally causes dropouts. I turned off background sync on my LG to save battery, and this (perhaps just coincidence) seems to reduce the music dropouts. Totally uneducated opinion tho.
