lord knows what they've done but the user interface is shocking very jerky not smooth at all

Got the same update yesterday in the UK for the TA-1055 and has similar issues.

They really need to get their act together for the "7 Plus".

just updated here in UK. haven't really played with it to see if I am seeing same issues. will report back if I do.

it's mainly in the menu that's the problem you can really see it
