Auto datta off apps are not working

On previous versions (KK) i worked with an app that allowed me to switch data off 3 minutes after i turned off screen. This was very useful since i have a small data plan, now i have tried several apps that should do the same but none work. they all say its active but then the data remains on.

want to leave phone unrooted for update and warranty purposes, Any ideas?

Have you upgraded to 7.0 yet? It has a pretty nifty 'data saver' feature where you can have a lot more control over what apps use background data.
