Is it possible to auto disable WiFi and the network when you put the phone to sleep?

You can shut off all network communication by turning on airplane plane mode.

I use a toggle widget to turn off my data. Switchpro widgets is what I use but there are a lot of options.

There is a program called Timeriffic that you can use to set your phone to airplane mode at a set time (like at night), turn off Wifi, change screen brightness, etc. I use it to mute my notifications at a certain time during the week since i forget to mute my phone before I go to bed and my lovely wife will remind me that I forgot with a gentle kick to my back when emails come in at 2:00 am.

If I reading this right it sounds like you want the power save mode. That mode goes on automatically when you battery is low enough and you can adjust at which percentage it goes on at. I was unable to find a way to turn on power save at will, it is dependant on battery level.

The other thing you may want to do is add the data widiget. It's under the settings widget when you go search for it. That widget allows you to toggle WiFi, background data, roaming data, and network data. I do believe that network data will need to be on to get texts, but I could be wrong.

i think what would be nice is to have the data-sync automatically turn off at night. also, an option to reduce the frequency when syncing takes place.

by the way, i also turned off the syncing of stock quotes and news. also, does anyone know what exactly is backed up by the backup-assistant and how to turn it off? i don't need it backup my contacts and message since they're all stored on google's cloud.

Back-up Assit is verizon little back up program that allows you to back up contact (and you can edit them online via website).

the only way is a hard rest and when that part comes to enable it, you say no. If all your stuff is in the cloud that shouldn't be a problem. It does save on battery
