Auto HDR/ HDR On/ HQ - When to use what?

Hello, so I'm almost completing a month with OP3T. Also got Nougat yesterday
One thing that still has me confused at times are the camera modes. Coming from a Moto X 2014, OP3T uses HDR differently than usual plus we have a vaguely named HQ mode.

So when do you guys use the 3 settings and which is the preferred one. - Auto/HDR On /HQ

From what little I've learned, I use auto/HDR in normal lighting and switch to HQ mode when in low light.

Although I can't tell a great difference between these twilight shots here (other than the iPad shot):

From what I remember reading on a developer blog, someone said that - When using HQ in low light, it automatically reduces shutter-speed even more compared to the already lower speed in auto HDR mode..

So it's almost like a 'super night mode' if you can call it that

So basically HQ for night shots, Auto for everything else?

Dang, I thought the HQ mode was for everything.

Try different modes and see what works for you.

Yes, I've tried but didn't really see a difference. Hence the post in the forums. I still find the HQ mode similar to Auto.
