You should be able to use for calls and text just not 3rd party apps , no only reboot into safe mode is only way but if you can monitor for awhile try it .I appreciate the suggestion but putting the phone in Safe mode reboots the phone as far as I can tell. And when my phone is rebooted, both issues are temporarily resolved until at some point in time volume drops again to next to nothing and the screen won't auto rotate. If there was a way to put the phone in Safe mode without rebooting the phone then I could tell. But as far as I know, the only way to put it in Safe mode is via reboot. I suppose I could leave it in Safe mode for an afternoon to see if the 2 problems recur while in safe mode but can you get calls and texts while you are in safe mode?
I was able to keep safe mode on long enough that after rebotting the phone in safe mode, auto-rotate stopped working after about 5 minutes. So that eliminates a wonky app I'm guessing and it must be an issue with one of my sendors or some other hardware issue?Try safe mode if still happening.
Yeah definitely not a app causing this , so leaves either factory reset or contact GoogleI was able to keep safe mode on long enough that after rebotting the phone in safe mode, auto-rotate stopped working after about 5 minutes. This happened after last update ? So maybe a factory reset or next update might fix again. There's a thread on google support I'm following with folks in my situation where the accelerometer stops working after restarting the phone. Weird that it auto-rotates fine in Youtube, but no other apps including Google photos.
No icon when auto-rotate is working right after restarting the phone. I downloaded an accelerometer callibration app. I said it calibrated the accelerometer which I could only do after retarting the phone because that's the only time the accelerometer works. After callibration, instead of auto-rotate working for 5 min, it worked for about 30min. But then went back to not working. I'll report back after I install the next update. Do you get the little icon when you slowly wrote your phone for auto rotate ?
