Anyone else think the auto rotate feature is uncharacteristically slow I tried both ways with / without face detection that doesn't seem to do anything just curious

Going from portrait mode to landscape works just fine. Occasionally I have noticed some hesitation going from landscape to portrait. At times I've had to tap the bottom edge of the phone (charger port end) to get the phone back into portrait mode.

Interesting, no?

This also happened with my 2XL but not as frequently as with the 5a (or so it seems.)

It might be useful to keep track of the web sites where this slow acting auto-rotate occurs. Might find patterns and a possible explanation as to why it happens. I will try to remember to watch for it and post my observations in this thread.

Sounds good I will to but so far no patterns detected. It can be Gmail, Chrome, or any app, just seems like it's slow to respond.

You can also try safe mode
Why would we try this? Other than those apps that specifically freeze the auto rotate function, what other app could possibly affect the phone in this manner? Also, what are the chances that both of us have one of these apps on our relatively new phones?

The go-to solution in these Pixel forums seems to be, "it's a faulty app, try safe mode to eliminate it". And I do understand the strategy. Maybe it's just a problem with Google's hardware?

Possible a app or application could be causing this.
