Auto Screen on when taken away from ear during phone call?

All my other htc phones would turn the screen back on when you pull it from your ear and look at it, either to end a call or use the number pad. So far i've been noticing i have to do it manually. Anyone notice this?

Every smartphone I've ever had has done this, so it's not just HTC phones. Just tried; If I'm in a call, when I take my phone away the screen turns on; when I put it back to my ear it turns off like normal. However, if you lock it in the middle of the call, it won't automatically turn on anymore.

It's working; not sure why it didnt do it those other times.
